help need some headers to fit put 2001 mountaineer 5.0 in my 98 ranger they said torque monster will work do they still make them
Everybody here has probably heard about Torque Monster headers for '97-'01 5.0 Explorers and Mounties. If you own one of these trucks you know that Ford totally dropped the ball with their own super restrictive OEM design. The Torque Monsters really wake up the 5.0. Great torque, better acceleration, better sound and better MPGs...plus they look awesome. The only problem, they're not cheap.
-For earlier model trucks '96-'97 1/2 (build date until 12/96) with internal EGR systems, the current price is $689.00 + $45.00 s/h.
-For '97 1/2-2001 (from build date 01/97 on) with external EGR, the current price is $789.00 + $45.00 s/h.
BUT I've been in contact with Al's Headers, the company that produces the Torque Monsters, and Al has agreed to give us a better deal if we were to place a GROUP ORDER. The amount of the discount will depend on the number of members who are interested. Once I have an idea of a number, I will be able to give you an amount.
I am thinking that for the next month we take names, determine who's serious, and then place an order at the beginning of February. Then we'll give Al the time to produce the headers, and come spring we're ready to install.
So, if you're interested in getting on the list for a set of Torque Monsters and saving a few bucks, let me know. Also include whether your truck is a pre 01/97 build date or later. Feel free to PM me also.
*If you're interested please PM me your first and last name, phone number, email address and the build date of your truck. If it's after '97 just the year will do. And by giving me your info doesn't mean that you're commited, but I do need it.

your going to have to contact al's headers yourself.
No no one will be calling you, or emailing you, except for spammers.
If your really lucky, someone that bought them thru the group buy might be willing to sell you theirs at a slightly inflated price. This can be done thru a private message on this site.
You might want to edit your posts to take your personal phone number and email out, as this is the internet, and you never know who might start calling and emailing you.
Cam is going to be a custom grind from COMP Cams. The goal is a 6500 RPM redline and the flattest torque curve possible. But as we all know that just can not happen. I have to talk to the guys more and see what they can do but as far as valvetrain is concerned hardened pushrods, stud-mount rockers and upgraded springs will be making its way on to the engine.
And yes I know about the Tri-Y's. That was actually the original plan but I had two problems with them. One, there are known clearance problems for those of us running the 164-tooth bellhousing because of the flange hitting the damn starter. Two, some of them, especially the ones for 1/5th the cost, are not of similar quality. Painted steel is a no-go for my engine bay. I'm going to be pouring my heart and soul into this thing and when that paint starts to chip off damn I'm going to be pissed.
Also, this will allow me to run Explorer-like plumbing. I was thinking a pair of high-flow cats then X-piped and a dual inlet/dual outlet muffler. I still have plenty of time to think about this though.
You can buy these headers from Al's but you must use the factory heads. Other then that, they are pricy and be prepared to wait a long time. Took mine 9 months to get..
Are there still people waiting for their orders?![]()
