This is a new one for me, I have a 97 Sport, and out of the blue my right turn signal won't work. If I flip it on it just buzzes. The left works just fine. And if you lift it to the right a little they will work. I checked the bulbs, they are all working so I dont think its a burnt out bulb issue. Maybe its the flasher, if so where are the flasher at on these.

Any Input would be helpful before I tear into this. THANKS!!!!! :fire:

Sounds like the flasher its located behind the panels below the dash.

Good luck ....

Could also be the multifunction switch itself. They are notorious for going bad.

That's what it was on my wife's 95. It made that same buzz and worked just like you said about holding it partway down. We replaced the multifunction switch & problem solved :)

See if the sound is coming from the steering column in the are of the MF switch.

On my 96, I first replaced the blinker flasher, and it didn't fix my buzzing. I bought a new stalk, and was ready to put it in, and found that a plug on the multifunction switch was broken. There are a few wires in a white plastic plug that attaches to the stalk, and that plug was broken. I ordered a "plug harness kit" from Ford, and replaced the plug, and no more buzzing!

Yeah i was messing with this for a few weeks. I was about to replace it when it just all went away.

Funny thing this also happened to my dads f-150 and my moms t-bird. All of them acted up for a month strait and went away for good afterwards.

Maybe it may work for you, I just happen to have no money to replace it when it first went out. Ill be ready next time.

My multifunction switch began buzzing about 2 months ago. Scared heck out of me the first time it happened. No broken plugs or bad flashers in this case, it was definitely the switch itself. I replaced the switch with a "newer" one from a '99 X found in the boneyard. I pulled it myself from a total wreck and they charged me $10.

I am having the same buzzing sound sometimes. Can you give more detail how to change the multifunction switch? Where is this switch located? Thanks.

The multifunction switch is located on the left side of the steering column, under the steering column cover. It operates the turn signals, wipers, windshield washer, high beans and emergency flashers. on 95 and later models, thecover is reoved by taking out 3 screws from the bottom of the cover, unscrewing the steering wheel height adjuster lever, and working the two pieces of the cover off carefully. BEFORE DOING THIS, REMOVE THE NEGATIVE POST OF THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY AND THEN WAIT 10 MINUTES SO AS TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY. Remove two torx security screws and unplug two large electrical plugs and it's out. Reverse for installation and you are done. Should take no longer than 20 minutes working slowly.

Had the same problem. It turned out that the plug just came loose, and thats what caused the buzzing. Saved me about 50 bucks.

I just fixed this problem today, I posted about it a few days ago. My fromt (only the front) blonkers on both sides went out, and I got the buzzing noises. Changed bulbs and fuses. FInally broke down and took it to ford.Bad multifunction switch. The part was 11.88. the labor was 234.00. A RIP OFF!!! If I coulld have managed doing it myself, I would have. So, if you can do this, I suggest doing it yourself. :)

$11.88? Buy one for me!!!! I'll glady pay the postage!!!

Lloyd, I just email you about it, if it's the multifunction sleeve, (thats what my problem was) and a rewire, I will call Sunland Ford and see about getting you one.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the replys! Looks like Imma take off the shroud, check some connections and knowing my luck I'll be replacing an expensive plastic piece! Thats about how it goes I guess. :fire:

I wish I could have helped. I purchased a multifunction switch from a 99 but it will not work properly in a 95, so I'm sure it won't be any good for a 96 or 97 either. So it must only be for 99 and 00 models. I've just posted it in the PARTS FOR SALE section.
