Update on the "PROWLER ORANGE" Sami

This project is taking longer then I thought it would and it is costing a little more then I thought so that has also slowed down the process but we are getting closer. I thought I would push it outside today and let the Sami get some sun. I got the electrical done so now it's just putting in a bigger return line for the gas and putting in a tank with a fuel pump in the tank and I hope it will start. I was hoping to have it finished by the 4th of July but since we missed that date I want to make sure it's all finished before hitting the trail, don't want it to die on the trail that's for sure.

This is Patrick's favorite picture, he thinks it looks like a monster or something with little eyes!!!! I found these little blinker/running lights at our local Harley Davidson dealer and they were a little expensive since they were chrome, but they do look good.

Hopefully we can have it running in the next couple of weeks and hopefully things like the transmission, transfer case will be ok. Dad said; he didn't know if the guy was going to get it back home at night when he would drive it to work. I have done a lot of things such as new brakes, new clutch, new plugs, etc just to make sure onces it is finished I shouldn't have to do anything for a while to it.

If the hood doesn't fit I plan on just cutting a slot in the top (middle part that already sticks up) and just add a couple inches so it would look stock except it will just be higher in the middle. (hope that makes since)
I don't like the looks of a hood because the middle of the hood is already higher.

Me & a friend built it, but all the design & drawing goes to JDraper here on the board, he is the one that gave me the drawings. I had to modify it a lot from his drawings because he has the stock steering and I put the power steering in from the Tracker.
Since no one would donate a winch for PWSX4 (Patrick) we just put a lid where the winch would go and made a nice little box for him to keep a strap, D-ring, etc. for when he is on the trail. I think it turned out really well.

I think the hood should fit, it's a stock 1.6/8v engine, correct? They are the same height as the 1.3 engine I thought.

I also run the air cleaner tube over the engine the same way, and have no issues hitting the hood.

Looking good Perry. One suggestion on items to add is a skid plate on the xfer case. I can't count how many times I have scraped it up and now the drain plug is getting harder to put a wrench on. Mine came with the little wimpy "skid plate" (about 2" x 3" at best) but that doesn't help at all .

Just thought I would update everyone on the Sami even though there isn't much to update. We finally got the gas tank in so it has fuel & it has spark but it won't start so we took it to a mechanic to see if they can figure it out. Hopefully it won't cost to much for that and then at least we can drive it and get all the bugs worked out of it.
We still need to paint the hood because we left it to last in case the motor stuck up to high and we would have to do some trimming but it looks like it will fit so we can finish the hood.
Patrick wants ghost flames on the hood so we are going to give that a try and see what we come up with. Hopefully we will have pictures of it on the road soon..............

We had the motor gone thru by another machanic and I guess they put the distributor in 180 degrees wrong and there is another part I need to go pull off the Tracker, but they got it running. Now we have to do the exhaust and alignment then drive it to see what other things we need to tweek.

well you knoew it was either the old backwards dist or fuel lines backwards, those two have stumped even the best! Sometimes it just takes another set of eyes.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!

Got to drive it home from the mechanic shop and we were going to have the exhaust done on it but we will have to do that tomorrow, then in the afternoon it goes to the alignment shop then back to the shop to finish the hood, sliders and misc. stuff like the speedometer isn't working and the check engine light is staying on. I figured there would be a few of those things happening but at least we don't have to push or tow it to places.

Perry, under the dash, on the right side of the steering column is a toggle switch that will put the check engine light out. It's usually mounted on one of the tubular supports that holds the steering column in place. It's standard on most of the non-fuel injected Sammy's.
