Changed the plugs and wires with what? Sometimes Motorcraft brand plugs are needed, sometimes aftermarket plugs can affect anything from idle to missing and hesitation issues. Low-quality spark plug wires (like the $9.99 autozone specials) can cause ignition problems too, even with Motorcraft plugs. Also, be sure the plugs are gapped correctly. A much smaller or much larger gap than spec'd can cause ignition issues, as well as a different gap between the plugs in each cylinder.

Missing can be a lot of other things, possibly the coil, or even a fuel issue, such as clogged/dirty fuel injectors, or even just rust/sediment in the tank that's slightly blocking the fuel pump from sucking up all the fuel it needs to deliver.

You might want to start with a few more simple causes that have cheap fixes, like the air filter (is it dirty?), the MAS (mass airflow sensor) which can be cleaned with some carburetor or intake cleaner, and even just checking the throttle cable and throttle body assembly for smooth operation.

Loose motor mounts CAN NOT cause a miss.

When does the 'miss' occur? While idling? Under load, i.e. accelerating, or going up a hill? Does it also back fire?

it miss at idle not bad but still a miss
new autolite plugs the gap was set new wires
fuel filter as well as a new air filter where do i go from here what about the o2 sensor

If your o2 sensor was acting up your check engine light would be on. Looks like you have a 92, any rapping from the timing chains? The timing could be slightly off. Any ticking in the engine like injector noise or lifter noise? (lifter more common on the 5.0)

no ticking from the engine

Try this
apply 12v power to each individual fuel injector-listen for a click.

Since this is a batch fire injection system, You can find the red 12v source line and the right- left bank ( tan-white) injector wires in the main harness plug near the alternator. Disconnect each injector, then, plugging them in one by one listen for a click as you apply power to the ( disconnected) harness plug. Remember the red wire is 12v + and the tan or white wire is the grounding path.

It may be easier to leave them all connected and feel for the clicking by hand , actually touching each injector with your fingertip
If you do feel one not clicking, disconnect all in that bank and try applying power again just to verify that injector is dead.

My motor had a slight miss from autolight plugs,I went to ngk and runs smooth as a babys butt.check everything else and if you can't find it try ngk plugs.it could be a going bad coil,is it a double miss like is it missing in more than one cylinder or the same one everytime

my explorer does this too but what i found out is (with a lot of explorers) the alternator does not put out enough power at idle like if your running lights and your heater at the same time it wants to studder (like a miss) so check that out.

I had the same problem in my 91 at 200K. It ran better after each thing I replaced. Plugs, wires, fuel filter, cleaned MAF, but still had a slight miss. Turned out to be an injector.
