I have a 93 explorer xlt with the V6 and auto, with a bumper hitch.

I would like to get a camp trailer to take the family camping.

How much of a trailer could it pull without giving it too much of a workout?

Thanks

Rob

add another trans cooler and watch your trans temp
that 93 can tow ALOT more then you think

But it will take its toll on the old truck
THere are LOTS of things you can and should do to improve the safety and wearability of your 93 if you plan to tow with it often

Keep the trans cool
Good brakes
Good shocks
proper hitch
drivetrain in tip top shape (U joints, steering gear, etc)

I believe stock towing capacity for a 93 sploder was 5000#, The engine, rear axle, can handle it all day long, your transmission is the weak link followed by your stock brakes

this has been discussed here ALOT, try searching a bit
I towed a 19' 2001 Bayliner (3600#) with my 1988 BII on 33" tires, through the rockies for years, same engine and trans as your 93, if that gives you an idea of whats possible
