Wire harness close to heat source...

If I have a wiring harness running fairly close to the exhaust manifold, what is the best thing to do? Moving it is sorta not an option. What about a header-wrap type material? Autozone and Pep Boys really had nothing that would help me. I am planning on going to the speed shop in the morning. Any other idea?

the only thing I think oh is get some of that header wrap and use them on both.

Is it currently in plastic loom or is it just wires?

high temp wire loom will usually have a grey or white stripe down it and that should hold up to the heat. Alternatively you can get some heat resistant sleeving like this: http://store.summitracing.com/partd...&N=700+4294845355+4294845354+115&autoview=sku and put over existing loom or the wires.

Header wrap for a wire loom will be a PITA because the wires are flexible. And if you are thinking about wrapping the exhaust closest to it, that will not prevent the loom or wires from melting.

This harness has large connectors. So any type of sleeve without a slit in it would not really work.

To fix it right I would need to pull the motor again. But it needs to leave my garage tomorrow.

wrap the wires, wrap the exhaust and make a metal heat shield to bolt or connect between both, until you can pull engine again.

Cut up a tin can, and use that as a heat shield.

I would use some sort of wrap and then wrap in metal foil or some other shiny metal. It would be nice if you can put a little air space between the metal and wrap. You need shiny metal to reflect the radiant heat away.
