wont pass smog

2002 Mercury Mountaineer 4.6 V8 AWD recently got repaired, after sitting for 5 or 6 months. I put a brand new battery in because old one was bad. Now it wont pass smog, it only has 150 to 200 miles added since repair. after talking to mechanic and smog technician and doing a little research. im guessing computer needs to be reset

Someone will chime in, but I believe after the ecm is reset it needs a few drive cycles or the smog tech may see a not ready code which will fail. 200 miles should be enough for a few drive cycles but if it was done all at once it might need to be driven more.

would mechanic have to reset the ecm..... or is that something i can do......... that popped up on my research....... I guess when a new battery is installed some things get reset, and some things dont..... which is why car wont pass
