what do you guys think about running a vortech supercharger? i hear good and bad about them. like i said i'm looking for around 450hp/450tq what supercharger do you guys think would work best. as for tuning what did you use to tune yours. see i'm dead confused about how to tune it. i have tuned 2 evos and many hondas but this electric tranny stuff confuses me.

After some thought I think ill sell at least my heads now. The longer I wait the less value they will have. So they are now officialy for sale. Well, so is the bottom end.

Yes I do have an aluminum block.

Get a SCT Xcall for your tuning device. You can find a tuner to help you street tune via datalogging and emails. Or take it to a reputable dyno shop, eighther way, you will need the Xcall.

On the blower it depends what your goals are. I know you said 450whp... but that power came be made at higher RPM with a cintrifical or much lower rpm's with a twin. I would do the TVS and never look back. It will require some fabbing though as the kits are for the Mustangs.

....

That's a good thought with the new heads coming out.

Alex, do you have any feel for how the DOHC heads are doing? I bought a pair a couple of years ago when I had plans for a 03/04 Cobra kind of Mark VIII. What I have came from a new Ford crate engine, a 99-01 Cobra engine. I got them just before the news of the early 03 Cobra head having cooling issues. So prior to the updated heads for 03/04, these I have aren't ideal for a boosted DOHC. I also should probably sell them, they are a great new Cobra head for a NA car. The age hurts the value and new aftermarket heads are coming. The only good news is that they are brand new and complete. Ford does not sell new DOHC heads or even complete heads since 2005. These have the cams and all valves/followers/chains etc, with used valve covers. The guy(kid) I got them from used the shortblock for his 1998 Cobra and couldn't use the heads.

id rather more of a low rpm power. i'm lifted with soon to be 35s on so i really want the torque. i know a good amount about working with turbo setups so my first idea was a remote mount setup and just go with a turbo that have minimal turbo lag. the more i think about it i think 400hp to the wheels will be plenty but torque is a must.

i already ordered 4.88 gears front and rear, and short block. the kenne bell 2.1 is sitting at my house already and when i bought that i picked up a mustang hi amp alternator and 220b slim fans.

are the cams in your heads more of a forced induction cam or can i run it N/A for a few thousand miles to break in the motor? i just blew about 9-10grand on my truck so i gotta save a little more then those heads will be mine.

i don't know if you have ever heard of Johnny lightning but he is a well known tuner in pa so maybe on my leave i'll talk to him about the build see if he could get me on the dyno and tune her

You know im not up to date on the 4v heads. I bet you can get some good feed back at TCCOA. I would also call John ant Modular Performance, he deals mainly with 4v modulars, im sure he can tell you a lot about them.

Yeah I would stick with your KB if your looking for that low end torque.

I don't think it would necessarliy be "bad" if you run these cams while in break-in mode. FYI Ron at Fox Lake made 750whp on my exact head/cam setup. It was with an F1 centri.

Yes I have heard of Johnny Lightning. I'm sure he knows how to tune ;).

i would would be so happy if you hit 495hp on the m90 just so it knocks the "HONDA" out of the top spot. lets see a explorer up there.QUOTE]

Oh don't worry. Honda will soon be number two ;)

That hollywood top makes it look like an MR2, so does the body kit! Did he have that top cut?

Thanks.

Well this was a pretty high expectation as its never been done before, and its been tried by the best, including AED.

Not even on a 5speed Mustang! So to pull it off with all my handicaps from my drive train loss was not easy :)

The current world record that I know of with an M90 was done with an NSX at 490whp. So thats my next goal, to be the M90 record holder.

Yes, I would have thought you were crazy and never would make this goal a few months back so I do understand the significance of reaching the 400 HP mark with a M90.

How about a 4.0 SOHC V6 turbo hitting 500 – 550 HP? That’s what I’m shooting for and then will back it down to 400 so it lives.

What turbo you going to use?

I just got 555awhp on a 2.0 4cyl... 92 talon. Out did the GT35R it first had on with an inexpensive HX 35/40, even spooled faster :)

he does all his own body work right in his garage. chopped the roof and modified the piece he cut out to make it a hardtop targa top. the wing and side skirts he glassed himself along with parts of the bumpers and hood

That's right a targa top. We had a 87 Turbo Supra back in the days and they called it a "hollywood" (targa).

Jakee: Hope my talon statement didn't come out wrong, just was trying to validate the potential of turbos. You hitting 500-550 on the SOHC V6 will be very impressive. Has anyone done it before?

Hey macknos94,

Sold my heads :( Sorry we could not work it out.

Trick Flow heads are on their way after they visit Ron at Fox Lake. I'll most likely be using comp 270's. Previously had 262's. I wasn't planning on going with the heads just quite yet but a good opportunity surfaced. So now its going to be a good time to get some custom 1 3/4 long tubes and switch from a 2.5'' to a 3'' exhaust. Also getting an 85mm TB and moding the plenum inlet to see how far down we can keep 85mm.... I'm hoping to see about 7-8psi and mmm 430-440ish whp. Then throwing on a 2.0 blower pulley for another 6,000 blower RPM's and see if that's enough to tip 500whp, at about 12-13psi... I'll most likely have to switch to a 10rib. We shall see!

ditto, im holding off buying mine untill some one guinny pigs em ^.^, i will be watching this thread closely...your truck is a beast awd.
