Well Im not a Ford guy...but my cousin is! (Im a Nissan Guy)

Im here to help you guys out as I know a good deal about trucks and wheeling.

Mainly I doing some "research" for my cousin so he dosent end up paying over 2 grand for a super lift.

What do you guys recomend for lifting the front end of a 2001 Explorer?

Not a "torsion twist" as you backwards Ford guys call it. Lol.

(PML in the Nissan world...Poor Mans Lift)

He wants a step above. So what am I looking at?

Damn IFS trucks.

Welcome! You'd be suprised on what you can find on here, just do some searching and you'll find just about anything you need!

Most people want 2 more inches.:dunno:

welcome

Well he wants more than 2" of lift (as do I...just scored some longer UCA's and stiffer torsion bars) but not ready to tear his whole front end out for a SAS.

Isnt there a middle ground?

Cant you just buy some longer UCA's s you can crank those bars higher than 2" and stay within spec for alignment and not ride on bumpstops.

So do the torsion twist and a body lift. I don't really know of any other ways people have lifted their Explorers. I haven't lifted mine so maybe someone else will chime in who has.

4WD Explorer Sport

So his options are limited for his CV shafts.

Rear is no problem cause of he has rear solid axle.

The Super lift looks like it uses drop brackets on every square inch of the damn thing, so its like yeah you hired your ride 4" but you still have the same amount of ground clearence.

Drop bracket for the LCA's
Drop Bracket for the front diff...granted thats needed so your CV's dont explorer
Drop bracket for the torsion bars so they dont bend into a pretzel

Correct me if Im wrong.

Options?

Hey thar!

Im doing some research for my cousin casue he wants to lift his 2001 4WD Explorer Sport (not the Sport Trac)

As most people proably know here, its a IFS truck so what are his options?

He wants more that 2" but so far I only found the the 4" lift by Superlift.

The only thing is that he, like myself, are into 4 wheeling so he can afford to lose ground clearence. Superlift seems to use drop brackets for the LCA's and the torsion bar ancors thus lowering ground clearence. So its like, yeah you raised your truck 4" but you have the same amount of ground clearence if no less. Correct me if I am wrong on any of these points as Im a Nissan guy.:p:

Like I learned here, the magic number for a torsion twist is 1.75" for a 4WD truck.

What other options are out there for a lift over 2" without dropping massive amounts of money.

Could he drop the front diff thus reducing his CV angels in order to go over 2" with the torsion twist?

My only concern then is camber alignment issues.

Torsion twist and a body lift is the best bet. Most reliable unless you want to go all out an do a solid axle swap.

Here is an excellent example of what a torsion twist and body lift can do:

If you don;t want to do a torsion twist, you can find some taller springs or search for threads on using F150 coil spacers.

There are camber adjustment kits available that allow for greater range of adjustment over the stock camber cams.

You can drop the front dif, but then you also have to either length or drop the radius arms.
