So I just acquired this vehicle in September and I have been busy putting new stuff on my 1996 5.0L V8 Limited Expolorer. This vehicle has been in the family since new. It has 299,000 km on it with just tires, brakes, fluids (synthetic oil) since new. There is not a drop or sweat of oil on either the engine or trans or tranfer case. Long story short is that I saw the potential of this vehicle and picked it up, sold the wifes focus, gave her my 2009 Grand Cherokee diesel. Now it is my project vehicle/DD

*UPDATE*
I have added a few more things to my Explorer recently.
- Windows tinted, 15% on the back on top of the factory tint and 35% for the fronts.
- Genuine black sheep skin seat covers.
- Re-upholstered my center console lid (upper doors to be next). L
- leather steering wheel wrap on the factory worn out leather wrapped wheel.
- Got a remote starter.
- I also added a video of my MAC exhaust.

Enjoy !

I put on a MAC intake, MAC exhaust, X-spec sway bars, Edelbrock IAS shocks, 17"x9" Cobra R replicas, and 265/65R17 Nokian WRG2 SUV (true 4 season tires). I also just recieved my SCT tuner from Bama (should have gotten that from the resident tuning guy Henson). I also painted out the faded black rear hatch corners and B pillars as others have done on this site. Thanks to those with the write ups and pictures which helped motivate me. I removed the cross bars from the roof rack and removed the factory cellular antenna from the rear pass. glass.

I did everything myself. except for the sway-bars because I was working on it till 2:30am the other night and ran out of time. So i got the tire shop to put them on for me.

Looks nice, keep us updated on what you do next

Great job! Looks very nice! Those rims look really good on your Ex...

Awesome,

Celly, there's another sharp explorer in town. ;) You guys haven't met yet?

He has PM'd me on something else. We are a city of a million + so we haven't crossed paths yet. I want his wheels/tires. :D

thanks for the comments! You could imagine my wallet is tapped for a while. It sure drives alot better now with those parts !!!

Most of the next few changes will be minor compared to what i've done so far.

Hey Celly why don't you pick up a set of those replica wheels, they are relatively cheap.

He tried to steal mine from me when he was here in kansas:D

Moi?

I wish I could financially justify the wheels/tires. Oh well, I'll take the headers instead (I used the "fuel economy" argument to get those). :D

What? No Torque Monsters?

I can see that everyone has a strong opinion on the TMH. They are on the list, but as mentioned earlier my wallet is a bit tapped out after all that other stuff.

I will give it some time and used Celly's line "Its for fuel economy honey......":p:

Where is the best place to get a replacement steel unpainted bumper? Also where can a guy get color matched spray paint?

Problem is, my fuel economy hasn't gone down for the most part because my right foot always has this desire to stomp on it. ;)

In all honesty, I did notice fuel economy gains in August while driving to/from Osoyoos, BC when I took it easy on the throttle and did the speed limit. :D

The pearl paint will be tricky to match.

Thanks Turdle. I had ordered a LMC catalogue and it hasn't shown up yet.

I know what you mean Celly with the fuel economy. Ever since I put on the intake and exhaust, my foot hasn't let up.:burnout: And I don't see that changing anytime soon. That's just the cost of having fun and putting a smile on your face.

You need them for handling, so you don't roll over when you need to make an evasive maneuver to avoid an accident:D Just don't try to drive on them in the winter, or you'll never move. Last winter when I tried to drive on these I was stuck on a corner for at least 5 minutes trying to get it to move.:( At least this winter I'll have "snow" tires.

You guys have winter in Topeka? We're supposed to get snow this weekend which is par for the course in October. September was simply tropical up here though.

Yeah we get probably 10-15 snowfalls a year. It's not a lot, but enough that I can't drive around on my summer tires.

That's another reason why I can't justify new tires/wheels. I have anothet set of Michelin snow tires already mounted on 2nd gen Limited rims in my garage. My wife wants snow tires for her Subie this year. ;)
