Yep I know and I hit my frame multiple times off roading today. I think I put a small indent in the bottom of my frame. Lifted GCs or 2nd gens wouldn't have that issue. lol

I vote get another Explorer, but I maybe a little biased toward Explorers : Both the heep and Explorer have their pro's and con's though so either way you'll be wrenching

Went to Salt Lake City and looked at this:

Has a few minor issues but nothing major. Its a 97 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0 SOHC

Looks like a descent Explorer.

For $1600 its priced about right. The guy is in no hurry to sell it so I have some leaning time

166k miles, leather interior.

Yeah, that's not bad, automatic I'm assume? A seller that's not pushy is a good sign sometimes.

Its an auto.
The biggest issue with it is he says if it sits in reverse too long the engine sometimes dies. The problem is worse in cold weather.

Hmm...yeah....not really much of a Tranny person...Engine anonymously dying could be a couple things....

I will admit at least the guy is straight up with all the problems. Some of these sellers wont admit any problems. I am kind of looking for a fixer upper but this one seems to be a good one. Not too expensive and thats the nice part.

Not sure yet. I still have a lot more cars I want to look at first. I have only looked at about 3 explorers so I want to wait and look at more.

I found somewhere to flex my axle somewhat. Its amazing the looks people give you when you're flexing an IRS on an Explorer.

I reckon they're trying to work out why you're flexing your truck on a curb or whether you're just a s***ty parker! Look's good tho' mate!!!

Now I need to do a test without the sway bar and find a better place to flex.

I got a new grille on. Took 2 grilles to make 1. But it looks damn good.
