Fiberglass hood?

I just bought some Fiberwerx fenders and was suprised to see that they weren't that much lighter than the stock ones. This is ok because they also provide clearance. I was also going to look into a fiberglass hood, but the only thing a hood would do is take off weight, and after seeing the fender weight difference I was wondering if it was worth it. Maybe the hood weight difference is much greater?

A glass hood isn't much lighter either. You can contact Tim at Glassworks Unlimited, but there have been bad customer service reviews as of late with him.

Paul B. has one on his 91 with the Toyota "scoop" on it and it looks great, but like I said, it's not much lighter. I wouldn't say it's worth it.

I wonder why people do it then? What about hood pins on the steel hood? Would that make it more secure than the latch?
