03 fliptrac $700 daily driver (summer of fun with 4 sport tracs)

I asked if the rear driveshaft has a cardan joint, many people call it a cv or constant velocity joint. You said after they replaced the u joints it had vibrations
No vibe before work and big vibe after = check their work. If they replaced both u joints in the cv part of the rear d shaft there is also a small bearing, soring and seal inside the cardan joint. They can be tricky to replace and if screwed up this could cause a vibration as you deacribe

It’s not a bad idea to make a new thread forum joint issues but at the same time I don’t care if we discuss it here in my sport trac thread because you know I will respond here and this is a discussion forum. However it is nice when some threads stay on topic… so I will leave that up to you.

Moderator and my friends are just trying to help!! No feelings needed
I just talk about trucks same as I would if we were all sitting around a campfire, you never know where the topic will lead

It was just a suggestion sent in a PM. Most people would have responded to the PM.

410Fortune, he's a really nice guy. I just thought that asking about wheel center caps, then driveline vibration after servicing was getting away from the topic, which is one of the coolest Sport Trac builds ever.

Thanks! Pm work too

I wish I had the time ( I should say I should make the time) when I complete a build I should make each truck a new thread with just the basics and details of the build through completion, remove all the “fluff”

There are 3 sport tracs in this thread that were built and completed in 2023, and one was crushed. I have one more to build…. My personal rig ;) the $700 white one was for My wife hahahaha she loves it

We drive the crap out of this truck daily, it has been flawless.. well mostly, I did have small Coolant leak from heater hose and the sunroof drain tube is plugged I gotta drop the headliner for that……

I picked up some used hankook 265/16 studded snows for this winter, should be quite the wheeler with those on

@410Fortune
You have any decent center caps that fit a 01 sport trac on a stock wheel?

These are the center caps I have stored up
Do you see the ones you need?

Bottom picture top right by the hammer!
Quite the collection! 👍

I've ridden in it. It is a legit good time. Ford should have built them with the 5.0 and the 5spd. If I didn't just get my 5.0 1st gen on the road I'd have to have one.
Jamie is great guy and does good work. Wish I didn't live 8 hrs away.

Thank you my friend!
8 hours but with camping at the end of the trip! Eventually we will have a cabin down there too, oh and a road wide enough for your rig lol lol

If ford built these with the 8 and the 5 speed what would I do? Hahahaha

I told the mechanic at the shop about your V8 sport trac and he said that would be really cool.

V8 anything is cool, V8 Explorers and Rangers are about as cool as you can get. Maybe a TDI swapped Explorer is just about as cool. Diesel clatter vs V8 rumble. Tough call.

Mechanics drool over my v6
And the feeling is so rewarding

My next project is gonna be a V8
I plan on a large cam driven by gears not a chain

My running 73 Ranchero has a Cleveland with a gear drive in it. I'm not thrilled with the sound of the gear drive, it's not my thing. But they don't cost as much as they did way back when, relative to other parts.

My running 73 Ranchero has a Cleveland with a gear drive in it. If you haven't gotten to yours by then, I'll sell this one to you. I'm going to refresh that engine, it's just a mild build given the intake/cam/manifold/carb, so it needs bigger induction and valvetrain parts. I'm not thrilled with the sound of the gear drive, it's not my thing.
I love the sound of straight cut gears :)

Will you do a blower with the V8 too, then the blower whine will be louder than the timing gears? I'm looking forward to the whine of the KB, though I'll be trying to run it at a lower rpm.

I was thinking nitrous

The 5.0 Windsor just sounds right. The "flip-track" makes all the right noises and manual tranny is stellar.

The 4wd is nice, 1st gear let clutch out and she just climbs

Thanks dudes

I was thinking 4 cyl turbo for my next build
;)
