Hi to all.

This is my first post in the forum because i am too bad writing in English. I am Spanish and i have a 4x4 94' Explorer with automatic transmission. I am having problems with my transmission. My first transmission was changed in the Ford workshop because it was loosing oil, and the new A4LD tranny seems to be defective. At least this is what the Ford's guys have said to me. Since it seems what this tranny was the last new A4LD in the world, they said to me that they could not change it into new other one. They neither knows how to repair it, because they said that the codes and the oil were ok.

The problem that my tranny have is shifting from 1 gear to 2 when it is cold. The shift is produced at 4000 revolutions. As soon as this happen, all work fine. I have noticed that the noise when I start the car is'nt the same. It seems that the engine reaches more revolutions.

Here, in Spain, we haven't good mechanics to repair automatic transmissions, and i have not desire of doing experiments in a no official workshop.

Is there a specific problem that will cause this?. Any help on this situation will be really appreciated.

Thanks you all.

P.D. Sorry for my bad English. I am being helped by a online translator :)

Hola! Lo siento para tus problemas. Sorry, my Spanish es no bueno.

The Ford mechanics should have to fix the problem because they installed the transmission, right? If you paid money to have a transmission installed it should work like it is supposed to work.

Yes, but they only offered to return the amount of the bill. Anyhow, I win with this becuse my new tranny doesn't lose oil. On the other hand, I am surprised for a new transmission coming from factory being defective.

Regards, and thank you for the reply.

When they put in the new transmission, Did they use your old torque converter, or install a new one? They may have installed one with a much higher stall than the factory 800-1200rpm torque converter.

It's just what you were saying in the #12 post. Might it be because it is a new part?. Might it be solved by the use or it would be necessary to change it?.

Thank you for your rapid response. This link is great.

Hi Shen2187.

It's supposed that the full tranny is a new part. They said me that the oil leak of the old tranny was owed to the torque converter. They aren´t authorized to use another parts that aren't of factory, and they said me what the torque converter does'nt continue being made apart.

Thank you for the effort of reading my bad English.

Ah ok, Well thats not it then.
