1993 Explorer XLT
Hello. I've been a member of the Explorer Forum for years, and I have a 1993 Ford Explorer XLT that I am the second owner of. My step-dad was the original owner. It sat for about six months after I was hit on my motorcycle by a car. Since I ride a vintage motorcycle which, I restore myself, I feel bad sending it to a crusher, so any suggestions on what to do with the truck are welcomed. It has around 150,000 miles, no cold AC, three blown tires, interior needs cleaning, top paint is faded even after the factory recall, and a possible blocked fuel pump from sitting.

I feel bad sending it to a crusher, when I know someone else might be able to restore it easily. I could as well, but no longer have access to garage equipment. What are your suggestions, because my landlord would like it moved quickly. I am in Tampa, FL.

The body looks to be in good condition. Why not sell it as is or part it out?

If you can get it to run, get 3 bald tires on it that hold air and sell it for $500. That is more than the scrap yard will pay you.

I'd put it on Craigslist. Be open and honest with buyers. If it wasn't parked due to mechanical problems, someone will be interested.

Thanks for your reply. I just found out that I lost the title. Not worth it? The land lord wants it gone now.

Apply for a lost title with your local license office. If you can get $500 for it, it would still be worth titling it. A lot of car crusher places won't even take a vehicle without a title, at least around here.

If the title was in your name, you can get a duplicate issued.

Why not buy it out and make it a forum car? Let him be lucky. He's very good.
