2002 Explorer with transmission problems (broken band).

Hello everybody, I need help bad, my 2002 Explorer had not overdrive the OD light was flashing always, and changing from 1 to 2 gear the RPM was very high, so I decided to go on line and buy a selenoid pack to install it on the car, when I removed the transmission pan I found on the bottom of it a piece of the overdrive brake band and the anchor that holds it, looks like the piece broke..NOW THE BIG QUESTION: CAN I BUY A NEW BAND AND INSTALL IT WITHOUT REMOVING THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE TRUCK..
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! I WILL POST THE PICTURES OF THESE 2 PIECES..

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the transmissions section. You have to remove the transmission if you want to replace the bands.

You probably have to repair the servo bores since a stuck servo could cause premature band wear & failure.
