My wife drives an "05 Mustang 4.0 coupe but even with Nokian Hakk 7 tires it's not really made for winter driving. We found her a low mileage 1998 Explorer Limited 4.0 4WD for a winter "beater" It turns out to be a really nice vehicle, choppy ride and poor gas mileage but in good shape and everything works, but the engine rattles a lot on start-up. I'm ordering the timing tensioners but if that doesn't help, a friend has a lower yet mileage 4.0 out of a 2006 Mustang that he turned into a stock car.
So the "Modified" question is will the 2006 block fit the 4WD frame and transmission (both automatics)? I'm OK with swapping the oil pans, accessory drives and exhaust manifolds. Is the Mustang intake worthwhile or should that get swapped too?
Thanks for your input, this forum has been a great help.
