2016 Explorer XLT
Just purchased a used 2016 Explorer XLT with 40k. I was advised to drain/fill my PTU. To my surprise I found no fluid at all escape out of the fill hole. I filled with AMSOIL severe gear 75-140. Anyone out there experienced the same low fluid level, and how do I know if any damage has occurred. I’ve read a lot about puking vent hoses and great amounts of sludge in these “lifetime filled” units. Thanks in advance!

These things only hold about a .5 of a quart to being with, how much did you have to add to get it to overflow out the fill hole?

Buy the time these puke oil out the vent they are done and it's better to just replace it with one from Ford. You could drain the oil and look for debris to get a idea what shape it is in.

Monitor the level and look for leaks.
