Ok we haven't touched on this but I'll ask. Since there are so many going to this, is anyone interested in a small swap meet? For example, I've got a nice receiver hitch I'd love to get rid of if anyone is interested. And I may have a few other odds and ends that maybe someone else might be interested in.
Yeah that would be cool. Not sure if I will have room, but might be able to bring a couple things

My co driver backed out. I'm not sure if I want to take on the 13 hour drive solo. It's hard to find co pilots for a week long trip on short notice

Oh c'mon, you can do it!

I'm going 12 hr shifts, for 4 days for this. I'm an old man with a hurt back too. :p

It's the drive home after sleeping in a tent for 4 days that'll be the fun part.

You better get your brakes fixed

Yeah, true, just pack the extra comfy stuff, and you will be fine. Lol

Worked on them all weekend, and all day today. Just waiting on help to pedal bleed, to see if they work.

Cross fingers!!

Dang, I wish I could be there for a CCR. I be jealous! But will get to make again. Enjoy!!!

Sitting here waiting on the last mechanical prep (hopefully) before the trip. AC charge. Took it in for a check to see if it was low on freon or just couldn't keep up with the 115* weather. It was low on freon. But hey, as long as it's here they throw in a coolant pressure check, belt and hoses check and a battery check. So i can rest easier there. 😁
Next on the list... Clean out the camper. It's got way too much junk collected over the past 4 years. And all that junk equals weight I don't need to pull! Gonna empty it to "as purchased from dealer" then pack only what I'll need for the trip. The Big Ed (Expedition) could pull it full and more... Little Eddie... Gotta go on a diet. LoL

Colorado has a bunch of wildfires raging un-contained, or partially contained, up along Interstate 70, west of Denver. Grand Junction has the 3rd largest fire in CO history and has claimed 87k acres so far. State has shut down the interstate, and is diverting all traffic south at Denver, to drop down to 50, for those heading west.

A new fire just started in Gunnison along 50, and that might be another travel concern, for this route.

The governor put the entire state on a fire ban today, for the next 30 days. Anybody boondocking needs to head this ban. Not sure about the campgrounds yet. Need to call and find out still if they'll allow it.

This has changed my route dramatically and because of this, I am leaving a day early. Going to end up, where ever we end up, and stay wherever we can find a place along the way. Just going to play it by ear. Might end up in Montrose on Saturday night, and head on into Ouray after food shopping. Who knows. It will be an adventure just traveling! Part of it!

Let me know if you're coming through the Springs. Maybe we could do a little meet up as long as I'm not at work ha!

Ok, I got a co driver for the trip. And after talking it over, looks like we'll stay at the KOA. Showing up on Monday and leaving on Thursday.

I'm still unsure of the exact re-route we're taking yet.

Either 70 to 24 to 50 ( passing thru the springs) to 550,

70 to 285 to 50 to 550

Going to have to play it by ear and decide the day we head out, after checking the roads for updates.
Gunnison fire might be a game changer for us, and take an entirely different route.

I don't think the fire near Gunnison is going to be of any threat. It is miles from Hwy 50. Greg, if you make it to Montrose and don't want to pay for a camp spot, I'm only 25 minutes south and you are more than welcome to camp here.

Thanks for the offer Mike! We will just grab a hotel room if we can find one. My back is killing me currently, and I'm sure it will be worse by the time we arrive in Montrose. Rather not setup, and tear down, just to set up again a few hours later. My back will thank me for the comfy bed that night, and when we setup in Ouray. lol

Good to hear about the Gunnison fire. Well, the part about it not impeding travel.

Can't wait to wheel with you, yet once again sir, been too long now!

Everyone working on their rigs and I'm like, sure I'll do a 650 mile, 2 night camping Colorado trip this week and still have time to turnaround for another trip next week 🤣 Just got back home after an epic trip but I put a beating on the Explorer using all my skid plates on one of the rockiest passes I have done in a long time. Time to check the underside tomorrow and do a nut and bolt check, hopefully everything is good to go again!
