410Custom's builds a 2007 Ranger V8 - custom truck build - Project "Ranger Premier"

I used rivets to hold things together, that way underneath there is nothing sharp sticking down into the new center console tray area
IMG_7157.jpg

here is the whole cubby assembled and ready for install
Of course to install it actually has to be taken apart one more time
IMG_7158.jpg

IMG_7159.jpg

Jump drive for camera system installed
Cubby in center radio bezel in

Can see the infrared receiver for the camera system remote. This will get glued in place here with double sided tape

IMG_7212.jpg

Next is the camera system
This sucker is awesome, but also has alot of wires!! 4 camera feeds..........
I found the perfect spot to mount it, in the dash, between the airbag and radio
But first it had to be wired in and 4 cameras installed

IMG_7193.jpg

getting wired

Now I'm still getting to the heated seat wiring and now to the camera install
2 of the cameras go in the side view mirrors
the side views also are getting heated glass and turn signal glass
This product for 06-11 rangers (and some of our explorers) is from Muth mirror systems......they are awesome. I have had a good experience working with these guys after I broke one of the mirrors.......let me explain :) I will be adding heated and signal mirrors to a few of our vehicles after this. My wifes FJ andour huge Excursion could both also benefit fromone of these camera systems

Make sure to send pictures of the completed truck if they want to use it on their website. With that kind of service and your product review, I'd buy from them too.

Okay so unboxing the Muth mirror system
This is what the back of the glass looks like, you can see the plastic mount, the turn indicator and the heater pad
Also we ordered the heater kit which comes with the wiring switch and controller for the heated glass
Installation is a little tricky but nothing most seasoned installers cannot handle
The hardest part is feeding the wired through the mirror and then through the door to the dash.
Rangers are not too terrible, the boot is easy enough to pull wires through with a piece of steel wire
pull one wire through, then connect the next, pull it through, continue until they are all done

Turn signal has a power and ground
Heater pad has a power and ground
I also added a camera to each mirror, the camera has a 1/8" thick round cable

IMG_7140.jpg

IMG_7141.jpg

hard to see but there is a arrow in the glass for turn indicator

IMG_7142.jpg

I removed the factory mirrors from the truck, easier to work on
IMG_7144.jpg

Use A screwdriver to pop the factory glass out, its rather simple really. I used a little heat in the middle of the glass to help the mount release from the mirror

passenger mirror went smoothly
So I decided to take pics as I did the drivers mirror
Problem
IMG_7148.jpg

The MUTH drivers mirror glass does not match our truck
See the inside of the mirror is round, well the MUTH Mirror mount is rectangle
Does not fit
So after running the wires and mounting the camera I decided to try and remove the Muth mount and install a piece from the factory glass
I used heat, gently, almost had the muth mount free when the glass snapped.....
Oh well it didn't fit anyway have to take some risks
contacted Muth, very very polite lady called me personally and handled things. New glass is on its way with correct mount.
I paid for the new glass $120! Ouch......

so lets install some side cameras and a bunch of wiring shall we

IMG_7184.jpg
pass side done

IMG_7185.jpg

Running all of the wires through mirror and out the mount

IMG_7162.jpg

drill hole for camera and grommet

IMG_7164.jpg

IMG_7167.jpg

IMG_7169.jpg

running wires through mirror w small piece of wire to get first one started
IMG_7174.jpg

camera lead pulled through
IMG_7175.jpg
IMG_7186.jpg

pull wire made it through the boot

IMG_7187.jpg

IMG_7181.jpg

now into the door boot and finally under the dash. Door panels are off and the door speakers were removed
IMG_7263.jpg

each mirror has ground wires attached to factory ground spots at drivers and pass kick panels

IMG_7195.jpg

all camera wiring almost run
IMG_7194.jpg

foam pads added to backside of the metal here, the camera head unit slides right up in here, secured with zip ties

IMG_7214.jpg

grounds connected, all wires run through dash and loomed to protect from metal edges
All dash wiring tied up and final install
Now time to find a location for heated mirror switch

the turn signal + wires were fed to the multifunction switch where I tapped into the left and right turn signal wires

The heater wires were run to the drivers side of the dash just next to the radio bezel, perfect spot to mount heater relay/ controller

Lets test the turn signals
IMG_7240.jpg

I almost forgot the CAMERA System has a shock sensor
This way if you are away from vehicle and it gets bumped the system records whatever is happening
Shock sensor has a sensitivity adjuster wheel

IMG_7197.jpg

Mounted here for easy access
IMG_7198.jpg

Now I wanted to put the interior back together so I could find the good spot for heated mirror switch

IMG_7218.jpg

One more thing to wire up first
the heated seat switches and relays
Power wires from fuse box and to seats already run to the center console (red)

IMG_7208.jpg

I ordered some nice billet pushbuttons and some pre wired and fused relays
IMG_7209.jpg

everything for the seat heaters wired, will be mounted in the console here

IMG_7219.jpg

IMG_7225.jpg

IMG_7226.jpg

IMG_7227.jpg

switch location and mounting

IMG_7222.jpg

IMG_7223.jpg

IMG_7231.jpg

now put it all together final mock up (before paint)
and I can select spot for heated mirror switch, I wanted it to make sense

interior going together all wiring finalized and tucked in
Can see the turn signal connections at the multifunction switch plug and also the heated mirror controller zip tied to metal support on the right
Plenty of airflow around that relay
All wires from everything I have run protected from sharp edges, bundled and tied in place

Also the blue masking tape, I Identified each power wire and system so future mechanics, the trucks owner, etc can more easily troubleshoot

IMG_7264.jpg

IMG_7232.jpg

IMG_7235.jpg

Found my spot
Heater mirror system controller, you hit the toggle button it comes on for 10 minutes then shuts off until you reset the toggle
Neat!

IMG_7247.jpg

Not an easy fit to put switch here but I was determined
IMG_7248.jpg

Had to be placed perfectly so the back of switch goes into the square access hole in the metal
The mirror mounting stud had to be shortened to allow room for back of switch and wires

IMG_7250.jpg

wont push back far enough yet
IMG_7254.jpg

IMG_7256.jpg

IMG_7257.jpg

Choosing this location I had to run the 3 switch wires back through the door boot from the dash back to the mirror spot! 3 more wires! Hahaha worth it
IMG_7258.jpg

IMG_7261.jpg

BOOM!!! Im happy

CHECK out these results from all this planning and install work

SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holley led's came out better then I had expected.......can see them ghostly off to the side of your leg or really bright from head on

I have some video of this setup to post
I took some risks on this and it paid off!!

Looks like it was meant to be, as clean as you can get.

Looks so good

If you think that looks good checkout these pics

My bronco is in the shop for some spring maintenance after another long winter
So while I had my wheels and tires off we did some test fitting

My wheels are 15 year old moto metal 17x9 with 7 year old Goodyear duratracs, 315 70 17
We built this blue ranger with 35’s in mind.
They fit soooooo well!!

Wheelbase has been extended for sure

I will measure
I will be adding 1” of lift to rear end next (Chevy lift shackles and possible block to adjust final height)

Some trimming would likely be needed in the rear….
If we were keeping the factory flares ;)

Tire coverage will take some deep thought

Wheels and tire shopping is taking place
Sorry truck is a little dusty
I will DRIVE it outside and wash it soon

man wish i was nearer!!!!!!! looks like a hoot to work on and drive!

I'm amazed at the extras.
The truck is looking like it is going to need a Hagerty Insurance policy. There are so many modifications to the vehicle that a local insurance company wouldn't be able to comprehend. I know it is not an antique, however, Hagerty insures more than antiques.

Just got caught up! Amazing work! Like Wow!

The seats looked like a nightmare. I am not looking forward trying to make my Corbeau's fit the stock base's to lower them.

That console turned out bad ass! Crazy cool! So clean!

Those brackets for the pump and Cruise was some medieval wizardly badassery magic as well.

I can see the front getting some wide flared fiberglass fenders in the future. 🤑

Thanks you guys!! My passion is these trucks and all the people around them

Dang! Looks great Jamie.
You got 10 pounds of spuds stuffed in that 5 pound bag

I agree with this!

Sorry but just catching up here.
Be a real shame to have something bad happen to a cool little truck.
Have you guys figured on a secret squirrel battery kill switch?

The truck will be highly protected from any sort of tampering or theft ;) have a really nice alarm system going in

So this truck was almost done and ready for testing and delivery well that was delayed a bit because we have more to do!!!

This should all come together this month and then finally we can get Eddie his truck back. He has a nice YouTube channel going now automotive related this truck will be one of the main features.

I have some sick headlights to install on this bad boy, I will get some pics and details of that.
The big update here is the final round of parts have been ordered and are starting to arrive
First I will give you a little teaser
The tires have arrived

Oh baby I’m so gonna need a set of these for my own rig!

Lots and lots of thought and research went into choosing the right wheel and tire combo here

Toyo latest offering for aggressive at is the open country trail r/t
Made in USA
315 70 17 is a 34.5 rolling diameter with 8 ply sidewall load range c
Absolutely perfect for a lifted / built ranger. If you order 35x12.5 you get a 10 ply sidewall but the 315 uses the 8, both sizes are same 34.5”‘rolling diameter

Also picked up a rim clamp tire machine for the shop after wanting one for years. So now we do our own mounting

More parts coming!!

Nice new shoes!

@410Fortune Now this is one piece of work. Not sure if I'd call it science or art, but she'll do plenty more than just look good!

Thank you! I love these comments they keep me going!

We are back on the 07 now
Wheels have arrived. I will say these were not our first choice but the methods we wanted are like $400 each… these wheels fit the criteria and were more “in budget”
Ballistic 17x9, 5 on 4.5, proper backspacing fit and finish. I think I shopped for the right wheels for 3-4 weeks? It can be exhausting! Eyeballs have viewed about 700000 rims, prices, sizes, availability…. I am now up on all the latest offerings for lifted ranger wheels.
Prices are crazy these days! But if we look hard enough…. Well Finally the right deal popped up on my screen. Before this I’ve always just been the used wheel store or junk yard grab what you can get type lol lol

I’m headed to in town shop to mount them up on our new to us tire machine

Let’s get this truck DONE!!!

These are going to look sick!!!

Next up I will mount the rear king shocks, wash the truck again and install the new wheels and tires…

There are more parts in the mail… those ones are coming freight, stay tuned! Final rounds of this build happening now!!!
