My Ranger was once involved in a front end collision- the "body man" who repaired the truck apparently was running out of paint- I can still see the former color through the paint. 
It's pretty evident in the picture above that the colors are different.
I have checked with a few body shops, to sand and paint my front clip will cost $650-$800
I cannot spend that kind of money on this truck. 
But, I do have a friend who can color match my doors and get me the paint I need.
My question is, can I do automotive paint with the "roll on" approach like in the link below???

I know it can be done with that kind of paint, but can I do it with automotive paint? What about clear?
