FYI, the 28 ounce balancer isn't available for the Explorer 302. I'm hoping that a gentleman does call me back about building one, he sounded hopeful.
Robert, What might you shoot for as a pulley diameter(balancer)? The stock balancer is about 5.75" in size, and the Kenne Bell 2200 has a 13,000 rpm limit. I think that keeping it near 6.5" would not over run the accessories too much. Something larger like that does allow for larger blower pulleys. I figured that I would be hunting a 94/95 Mustang pulley near 6.5 to 7" in diameter. Thoughts,
Don, the name of the game with that KB is BELT WRAP. The more wrap and surface area you have on that upper pulley at a given boost the better. I would run an 8" or bigger lower crank pulley, custom if need be, and then just underdrive the accessories with a few custom pullies. Then run a 2.75" upper pulley on the KB and that will have you close. You may go a little above that 13k limit but these KB's get overspun all the time Go all 8 rib too, no 6 rib. Doing that is an investment, but it is well worth it when you see your boost gauge peg at 20 psi and barely fall throughout the entire rpm range.
