Opinions.

Thinking it would be better to have a 50 socket to plug charger in to. Could be used as welder power in need.

Or,
Better to hardwire and use existing oven plug, and extension for welding as I do now,but can't get very far out to driveway.

Dedicated plug. My parents replaced their glass stove top with one that needed 50 amps. The wall around the sub panel in the kitchen pantry looked like swiss cheese. Took my mom a week to get over it. Hopefully your run is easier than that.

Yeah, my run is gonna be a straight angled line thru ceiling rafters to end of garage. No need for pretty in there.
Garage has separate 200 a service and meter from house which is same.

Gonna take the fun out and put the real in the thread.
This is intended to be an estate vehicle while dipping toes into the ev reality.
My father passed away ( sorry bout my upside down head lately) and mother needs quite a bit of attention. She's like a kid again, but her memory is scrambled. Anything new lasts about that long. Five minutes later it's new again.

So, instead of 2 60 dollars tanks if gas per week in a f150 she needs a stool to get into, we got this.
She lives at tallgrass Creek in overland park. Huge place with a fence to keep em in. She likes her cruise ship on land, doesn't wanna leave it so,
Enter this car. Tallgrass has level 2 chargers all over free for guests and visitors. 3 hours with Mom, full tank. Level 2 charger at home, 210 round trip with 250 range. Made too much sense.

Mom and my sister picked the color. I Got the xrt over sel trim. Bamm.

That makes sense. I'm dealing with my 94 year old friend who needs a lot more assistance lately. Getting old isn't for the faint of heart.

Well, she's pretty and functional, so I'd say fun circumstances or not, this seems like the right tool for the job!

Today's progress. It was a good day

Went to KC arrived at 63% , took mom to best buy for new laptop, came back to her apartment and plugged in.
Started setting up new laptop, transferred photos, made the long walk for her mail, wrapped up.
Car was full tank when I unplugged.

I did stop at a gas station to pee though on way home.

I hope it’s not like a new phone
Holds a charge for 5 days when you first get it and then a year later the battery holds for like 50 minutes hahaha

Thanks for sharing I love the looks and speed
I don’t like the need for the grid and the amount of tires the evs chew through

But the gas pumps and stations need grid too.

When grid goes, everything goes. Can't even purchase a battery because it can't be scanned.

True! I just don’t have a grid to tie into
If I had an ev it would be charged by the sun which charges my house which would charge the ev lol and then when there is no sun I would be burning diesel to charge the house which would then charge the ev

I already have an electric house and shop hahaha it would be cool to have an electric ranger based truck too solar powered. I would probably do an electric utv first or atv see how it goes. The technology is coming. If the grid went down I could generate power with the river… right now I can’t do that because it’s illegal hahaha

Diesel fuel can be rendered… but if the grid goes down we are all camping anyways until the zombies come
That’s when all the preppers become prep users

An electric Ranger would be cool. I'd like a hybrid with a diesel engine. I would register it as a fuel burning vehicle to avoid the penalties of higher registration.
