Im new to the forum. I did a search and couldnt quite find a thread specifically dedicated to these tires on the second gen explorer. I just bought mine and will be purchasing these tires soon if i like the look. I already know they are great tires, just want to see them on the second gen. It would be great if you guys could post pics of your X's with them

Much better off with grabber at2's, perform better in ALL aspects and a little cheaper..... thats my input the only respectable bfg to date is the km2.....

Great tires had 3 sets on other trucks...but just got too expensive.
2nd the grabbers.
Google image search will net you tons of pics

thanks guys, ive been looking at these grabbers and seems much better of a deal.

snow sand mud rain LOVED them, im actually thinking of getting them in a 35

I've run a very modest set of Grabber AT2s over lots of stuff this year -- sand, mud, rocks, road -- and they've been great. Tough as hell, and they pull through stuff that surprised the heck out of me. Minor road noise, but highway and around town are good, too.

Only downside I've seen is they're not stellar in the snow (and I got 2 feet of it last week). Not horrible, but it's definitely the weak spot in an otherwise great tire.

ooof, i had them in a 31" 2 years ago with a nasty blizzard and i was venturing around during the state of emergency through the entire storm AND was out in the woods every day of the storm, aside from sand they impressed me most in the snow. BUT in your defense theres different snow textures so maybe thats where our opinions vary

I really don't understand how you have Grabber AT2's and they suck in snow, they have the best overall rating other then the Goodyear DuraTrac's (which I have).

Are they getting low on tread? factory size? Any lift for better clearence for two foot of snow? That's probably the weak spot if your Ex is still stock and stock size tires, just saying. You could have the best tires in the world but in two foot of snow their not much good if you only have maybe 5-7" of ground clearence, might as well have a plow truck with bald tires, lol.

I second that! They are good in snow. Price is too steep for me now. No experience with Grabbers but all I read is Good Reviews as noted above!

Good looking tire but IMO i think they are way overrated. They had terrible dry road grip and wore poorly. Not to mention they are expensive.

grabbers all day!! As i fell in love with my 33" mt/r kevlars i still desire the at2's in a 35"

I've had 2 sets of BFG AT's and never had any problems what so ever. I love em and would buy them again or recommend them to anyone. They are a little pricey but in my opinion you get what you pay for. I got 80k out of my first set. Here's a couple of pics of mine.

Thanks for the pics, great looking ride btw

They use to be super popular- just about every truck on the road (or off) had them. I feel they are good tires (I've had 2 sets) but there plenty of options out there now. You owe it to yourself to consider the options.

In the snow I feel like they go like a scalded dog, but their stopping is less than impressive.

Off road I've not had any problems. And I've driven a good deal off road with them.

On the highway they are fine.

And the 80k mile life mentioned above, that's not the first time I've head of tons of miles on a set.
