Boomin's getting a sex change

Boomin's getting a sex change *PICS*

Haha guy well here we go. This weekend I will take the last pics of the truck lowered. I have decided that it is the best for me to lift my truck for 2 reasons. 1 is that it will slow me down some hopefully and 2 is that noone really has done what I am doing to a mountaineer. What my plans are:

Suspention:
-3'' lift spindles
-3'' TT by flipping and rotating the adjuster w/stock bolts
-SOA in rear possibly with shackles

Body:
-3'' body
-3'' Fiberglass fenders

Tires:
-15x10 wheels
-35x12.50 Mt's

I will be posting pics of the progress. This monday/tuesday I am doing the TT and SOA with monoleafs.

yeah slow down, deep breath and start looking at fixing the issues you have right now, not changing it more, because that will just bring new issues.

Vibrations = tires, start there. I want to see 0 on the static balance machine after the weights, then add some equal or similar continual balancer.

drivelines, should be balanced and have the proper amount of overlap at the slip yokes. New U joints, CV assemblies if required.

You should have good mileage if you have the correct gearing for your tire size, which I dont believe you do? Tire pressure is a good place to start as well.
Lifted trucks dont drive like lowered trucks, but IMO once you get them dialed in they drive FAR better.

AWD is not going to help your mileage!

Why are you tearing through wheel bearings? this points to improper preload/torque, bad spindle, or most common, tire out of balance.

Tires are balanced fine, checked them 2 weeks ago. My camber is negitive which is why i think i am tearing them up. I ahve 2* adjusters in but that wont help where I am at. If i want it perfect I ahve to bring the front end down 2''s. Gear wise, yes I am 3:73's but until I decide I want to stay lifted im not putting the 4:56's in. I still have my cobra wheels and tires and I have access to just about everything I would need to go back to where I was for cheap.

I think its the fact I still owe 9k on it and it is falling apart and becoming unreliable is not good

no thats not good :) hahaha I still vote keep it lifted, fix your camber issue however you can, even if it means less lift....

Or solid axle time?
How about a long travel A arm suspension since you seem to like throwing $$$ at it (that is a complimnet coming from me, I do the same)

You're definitely not going to get good gas mileage out of 35s with 3.73s in there. Lower it the 2" get the fiberglass and put the gears in it and you'll be a lot more happy with it.

well your about to get 200 dollars from me so that'l help w/ that fiberglass fund!

Ah man, don't being it down any. Leave it big.

Well I am getting frusterated with this truck. I have gone through 3 sets of wheel bearings, vibrations are crazy and I havent seen my MPG go over 10 yet. With all of this I am thinking In want to bring it down some. I also want to go back awd. I am thinking of just thoughing 4x4 spindles up front and going back sua with shackles. I figure there will be alot less problems this way. any suggestions?

is it really that bad..
you think the TT is too much and that is killing the wheel bearings??

af far as MPG i am right with you lol it sucks.. Luckily i have 3 vehicles and the others get a little better mileage..
is the bad issues in the front end or you think it is all in the back or a combo of both....
SO you regret going up that high.
Maybe should have stuck with 33's??

all that time and money that just sucks.

what was the mileage before all you did?

This is what I think I am going to do. I also am going to take a leaf out of the rear to bring it down a little. I got new lower ball joints, tie rods are good I think and I will have to check the uppers.

lowered I got about 13.9 in the city. Now I get around 9 and on a GOOD day I get 10.

not a good thing.

one reason why when i did my front spindles I replaced everything possible in the front end.Tie rods ball joints. wheel bearings nuts washers. EVERYTHING.

it was one of those might as well...
when you have everything apart..

33's? then d30 live axle up front, make it simple... leaf springs.

i say keep it SOA, sounds like you need gears for the MPG problem.

dont backtrack, you've gotten so far... there are always going to be bugs along the way. Even if you go back down to 4x4 spindles and SUA, you're going to run into a new set of problems.

just get it to a point where you can be happy with it then work out the bugs.

im putting it on the rack tomorrow, rotating the tires, repacking the bearings and hopefully doing the lower bj's. I will report back

I went to Radio Shack today.

This is what happens when you lift a vehicle and put big tires on it. 4:56's would make it better, but you'll never see 14mpg in the city again.

Wheel bearings
Are you setting the preload right? There is no reason to wear through them that fast unless the preload is off. Negative camber might shorten their lifespan, but not that much. If you're eating wheelbearings its either bad preload, bearing nut not locked down, bearing not packed with enough grease, or maybe badly out of balance or untrue tires. If its eating bearings that fast id have to say its not the tires.

Well I found the culprit this time. The inside cap was full of water. Any suggestions on keeping water out?

You did use a wheel seal right...................

Wheel seal on the inside of the rotor along with the center cap should create a water tight seal.
