i used to hit the trails all the time with completely destroyed bushings, and it never affected anything. i dont think it can hurt anything, but you may want to start a thread in the general explorations forum, or do a search cause im not exactly sure.

if he doesn't reply in this thread first, try PMing John (aka "DEROCHA"). he's replaced every single bushing in his rig. if anyone knows for sure, i'm sure he will.

IMO mild wheeling should not affect your X any more than it already is.

The stock bushing is mushroom shape. The end near the nut is the head while the stem passes through the bracket onto the radius arm. If the stem of the bushing (which centers the radius arm within the frame bracket) is intact then you will not have any problem. If the stem has degraded to the point of falling apart then it will allow the radius arm too much movement within the bracket. This will eventually cause the bracket hole to ovate over time.

If you're RA bushings are badly worn definantly replace them, i know someone who went to long with out replacing them and he ended up having to replace the RA cross member. the radius arms rubbed to deep grooves in the mounting holes. On another note it doesnt look like i'll be able to make it to this one. However after x-mas i will have alot more time to get out and wheel since i won't be working weekends any more.

yeah, the hole in my radius arm crossmember ovulated, but i think that is the wrong word. in other words, the arm was never in there very good afterwards, and radius arm still had movement in there. those things were a complete pain in the ass to replace too, but they are doable by anyone with a few tools, and some mechanical knowledge.

Yeah I hate it when my radius arm's ovulate... It's never any good, i can't tell you how many ******* radius arm's have running around... This one time they elongated and the cross member had to be replaced.

I have only done minor things. I change my own oil, spark plugs, and I have changed the spark plug wires.

Ok I thought it would just be me coming, but I was so excited now my dad and little brother want to come (48 and 13, respectively). They're both ready for some muddy fun... hopefully this will finally convince my dad to let me put all the equipment in my sig on the truck :-D

that's cool, tim. on a possibly sour note...i just found out that a friend of mine is up from virginia the same day as the run. i haven't seen him in years now, and would love to be able to see him. and seeing how my plans to bring my girl down are in the process of being seemingly shot down by anyone BESIDES her parents (which seems odd...), if she can't come, chances are i'll be headed to see my friend this weekend. so far everything is up in the air, but there will be more trail runs. i still hope to meet everyone that i haven't yet real soon. oh, and if you can, fred, try not to plan the next run on the weekend of january 3rd. i know it's a ways off, but that's my brother's wedding day!

hehe thanks for the support guys! actually my friend has a committment that same morning. he can't come, no matter what. he'll be an hour and a half south of you guys. but it's really less than a once a year thing now...and i miss the guy! i also feel the need, since he was close to my bro...to tell him in person that he's getting married. you guys'll have a blast and i'll still see you next time we go!
