Hello,

I have read some of the posts on the site in regards to the CPS and think that might has something to do with my stumbling and misfire issues like I have described here. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=232863

I had a squealing sound coming from the top of the engine start about 2 and half weeks before my trucks issuses started. I replaced the upper idler pulley thinking that was it because of the 222K miles on my truck. That didn't stop the squeak so I assumed it was the water pump but haven't changed since there are no leaks and it keeps the temps in check.

I went to Advanced to pick up the whole Sync and CPS sensor and tool today but they told me there are two different part numbers. The part is a remanufactured unit from Cardone. One is Part# 30-S2800 (with step on plug) and the other is 30-S2800L (without step on plug) Which one is correct? Has this cleared up anyone else's truck problems other than the squeal?

OOOPS! :eek:Don't know How I posted that twice. Sorry

This may help-
I think 99 -up use a 2 pin connector, where earlier has 3. So, you may be able to match it up if you look at the connectors on each

Yes you are right, but both of these part numbers are for a two wire '99.

I would have them order both in. Take your sensor in to match it up.

Just take the sensor cap itself off real quick and take it there with you.

Cool, works for me

See if they can't use their Buyer's Guide and show you the difference. (It's a catalog that shows pictures, gives specs, etc.)

I replaced mine almost 18 months ago using a Dorman part and have had no problems. The Dorman rep was very helpful; as I was sent the incorrect part. As an aside, I was worried after installation that the part did not match up exactly with my scribe mark. No problems, and I don't think about it any more. A few others have had the same situation.
