:( I know someone out there wants to go..

i do...

I'm working on some rear tow points, and i need a new CB cable.. cheap things always fall apart on me. then i'll be good to go. so either before new years, or after. i'm game.

Let me know when you and your friends all want to go, i'm game anytime.

i had tow hooks mounted to my rear frame rails, but the frame is weak back there and every time i had to use the hooks, my frame got all bent up, so i'm making a new rear bumper with integrated tow points to distribute the load across the frame better. hopefully i'll have the brackets done this week(working on them after work) and i'm trying to convince my dad to borrow a plasma cutter from his work so i can weld up all the plate and complete the bumper this weekend. so maybe the 29th or 30th?

Fine by me... Dec. or Jan?

Dec.

I should have my brackets done tomorow, so if i can get ahold of a plasma cutter this weekend, i should have my bumper done. I also ordered another cable for my CB so i should have all the minimum requirements for offroading.

You have any buddies that might want to go?

my friends jeep isnt ready to go offroad (no tow points, and bald street tires) I dont know many other people that want to abuse their 4x4 offroad like us.

haha well Bigman on here is shy of 18 so he can't, my friend with his 2wd sport won't get far at all, and the Ram is obviously too large... So no not really.. i'll have a passenger but otherwise unlikely.

all bigman needs is a passenger over 18. last time i went to the cliffs i was 17, and my passenger was 18. worked for me. call ahead to make sure though.

wow.... last time i went to the cliffs i was 17!!!!! i'm 20 now. it has been farrrr tooo long.

Wow wayyyy to long. Well now that you have 4wd back we can go more often :D

I'll let him know about that.

When you going? Did you see this?

WE WILL BE CLOSED
DECEMBER 21-31

O lol i'll break the gate down or something...

O lol i'll break the gate down or something...
right........any ways.....

Im not to sure i want to go...i cant really afford to brake any thing...how many miles it it from us jay?

Something like 40-50, you don't have to do any crazy stuff especially if theres snow with me fron/open and aric open all around i don't know how far we'd make it on some of the crazier trails. It get pretty extreme from some of the videos i've been watchin on youtube.

chances of driveline breakage are minimal. chances of body damage (dents, scratched, pinstriping......) are pretty good. as long as you are careful, you can come out unscathed. just DO IT man.

I'm definitely not doing anything crazy. this is my daily driver and i have open diffs. i just want to get out and play around with 4x4.... legally.

sucks about the cliffs being closed.... boooooo
oh well. how about jan. 5th or 6th?

Pff body damage is minimal on the easy trails.

Agreed about the craziness, i do need to make it home somehow, and the 5th or 6th would be fine. I'll go whenever.

saweeeeet! how about Sunday the 6th? i'm on a bowling league every other Saturday and the 5th is one of the Saturdays we bowl. if you prefer Saturday. then I'll make it happen.

i copy and pasted this from gljt.org list of requirements. I think its just you and me jman, but everyone else is welcome(hint hint everyone thinking about it) but this is a good list

OK, Here's the Required Equipment List for any of the runs we are on.
Gotta have it, or we'll turn 'Ya back.

Front and rear tow points, securely mounted (No welded on hooks, bolts must be grade 5 or better, and sized for the hooks)
20,000 pound tow strap .No Metal Hooks- and it must be a recovery strap in good repair
CB radio (Working)
Full size spare that fits the rig's bolt pattern for the front and rear and all tools needed to change your own tire while on the trail.

Do not come without any of the above. That equipment is mandatory.
It's also a common sense thing, but make sure everything is secured in your rig, and always wear your seat belts when ever your rig is in motion.

Some other things are a very good idea.
Fire extinguisher (Very Good Idea)
First aid kit (Another Cooter recommended VGI, a $10 cheapy does a whole lot)
Tools
Extra parts (U-joints, shafts, ect.)
Extra fluids (the automotive variety)
Hi lift jack
Something to collect & keep used fluids in
Ratchet straps
Zip ties
Bungees
Jumper Cables
