Cliffs before new years

saweeeeet! how about Sunday the 6th? i'm on a bowling league every other Saturday and the 5th is one of the Saturdays we bowl. if you prefer Saturday. then I'll make it happen.

i copy and pasted this from gljt.org list of requirements.

Nah sunday is actually better for me to because the bigger parties are on friday night. What is gljt.org?

Front and rear tow points, securely mounted (No welded on hooks, bolts must be grade 5 or better, and sized for the hooks) - I have D rings but they are beefy and work like a dream
20,000 pound tow strap .No Metal Hooks- and it must be a recovery strap in good repair - got 2
CB radio (Working) - check
Full size spare that fits the rig's bolt pattern for the front and rear and all tools needed to change your own tire while on the trail. - check, might have to go buy a high lift jack if i don't get it for xmas

Some other things are a very good idea.
Fire extinguisher (Very Good Idea) - will be buying if i don't get one for xmas
First aid kit (Another Cooter recommended VGI, a $10 cheapy does a whole lot) - will do
Tools - check
Extra parts (U-joints, shafts, ect.) - can do
Extra fluids (the automotive variety) - check
Hi lift jack - well look at that..
Something to collect & keep used fluids in - smart idea
Ratchet straps - check
Zip ties - will do
Bungees - will do
Jumper Cables - check

And yes i think it'll only be us but hey, it was just me and Kert last time and we had fun, i will have a camera man this time though i want lots of video and pics..

BTW What size tires does your buddy need for his jeep? I do have a set of 33x12.5R15 Pro-Comp M/Ts with about 40% tread left in the back of my Lightning. One has a crack but it still works fine.

count me out...i dont got a CB or a full size spare...if you dont mind jay id ride along with you though...id even chip in some gas money...

Yeah thats cool so long as you are going to be my camera man, and realize this is an all day thing for the most part.

Thats cool...ill bring the vid camera and the reg camera...get some sweet vids and pics for ya:thumbsup:

I might do this again... I dunno if I can manage those tight trails with snow on the ground an come out unscathed though...

I've seen some winter wheeling vids from there as well...it looks like that big valley (lorrie's holler maybe?) is pretty much impossible to get up in the winter without a winch.

btw: I'm trying to email those vids, but emails don't seem to like 130mb attachments...lol

Aha thanks Kert.

Yeah, i plan on AVOIDING that valley at all costs. I'm pretty sure there was a way around it.

so i dont have 4wd.... :(

I was picking my boss up because his driveway was nice and iced over, and he doesnt have 4wd..... and i heard a bunch of clunking and i'm almost positive i had no pull from the front.

Pretty sure its the cv shafts, so i should get those replaced sometime this week. so for now, we are still on for Jan 6th.

Got my bumper on too (its not finished but it will definitely serve its purpose. Its freaking beefy.

Alright if we gotta change the date we do, no big deal.

4wd is good to go. i have front and rear tow points good to go. tow strap, extiguisher, full size spare and i'll throw my tool box in too.

do you want me to post up on gljt.org and see if anyone else wants to go? i dont really know anyone, but they are local guys. and seeing that its a newb type run, there should be some interest.

Yeah go for it. Wouldn't mind seeing what some of those J**ps can do.

Just checked the weather and right now we are looking at 30% chance of rain and low 50's  Should be fun..

SO by the forecast so far, i think you should come :D

EDIT: What time you do you want to go?

SOunds like it will be messy. I was hoping for frozen ground and a few inches of snow... oh well.. should still be fun! :D

What time you do you want to go?
Parking lot opens at 8:30 and i have to fill out forms and such... so i'll be there around then.

Do you mind if we go saturday. A guy that wants to go on gljt.org pointed out that we;ll have a better chance of the ground being frozen if we go on saturday

Nope thats perfectly fine.

Yeah i was hoping for like how it looks outside right now....:( o well.

Alright so i'll try and be there around then too.

Wooooo that was fun and messy. There was alot of icy snow/mud. The J**p that came with was locked front and rear on 33'ish size tires and he couldn't even make it up some of the hills. I'll have pics and video up in a little bit.

Kert - good thing you didn't come, i think we all had some body damage.

Great time today! the jeep with us left a little earlier due to an upset 5 yr old. The ground was a little slushy, but still hard enough for some traction. long steep hills werent happening, not even for the jeep that was locked f&r. attached are a few photos.

Jman, send me your videos and i'll try and compile them into one long movie.

I was going to say the same thing :D. What kinda format you want them in? AVI or DivX?

I'll also be putting them up on youtube.

I planed on making 2 major videos compiled of our trip and the one with me and Kert.

EDIT: Aric failed to mention in that picture of us on the tires, thats me falling over :D and my X ended up stuck in that stupid thing :(
