Just letting everyone know that Ford doesn't make the 4406 Manual Transfer Knob part # F2TZ7213A anymore.

Also, does anyone know If I really need this??.....4406 Lockout Switch (4wd indicator sensor) 4L327E440AB

Thanks for the Part Number, place I went didnt have one. Which brand is preferred? Is one a higher quality?

The lockout switch would be used to light the indicator lights on the dash. It should still be installed in the transfercase.

I have an extra shifter with the knob on the end of it that you can have for free if you need it, just pay shipping. Send me a PM if your interested. All it is is the actual shift rod that is in the cabin, no linkage, no bolt to hold it on the piece that mounts to the transmission. It is not a thing of beauty, but it would work.

Precision 353 is the same U-joint (at least according to my notes).
I went to the parts store and told them what the driveshaft was out of and what it was going into. They looked up both u-joints and the "conversion" number that way.

Pm sent pos mounty!

I ordered this stuff yesterday from ford....

Lower lever (part that bolts to the transmission) F65Z7210BC
Upper lever (the rod in the cab) F65Z7210AB
Rubber boot F75Z7277AA
Linkage (piece that connects to the t/c) XL3Z7B051AA

Does anyone know if this stuff comes with the bolts to mount the linkage to the tansmission and transfercase?

No, it will not come with the bolts that mount it to the transmission. I got lucky and scored mine at the junkyard along with the rubber boot and upper lever from a truck headed to the crusher.
If you can, you could cancel the upper lever, and the rubber boot. I will be sending those to you with that knob.

I have the upper lever, but am missing the lower linkage/lever. I will be content with crawling under it to shift for now. :D

Ok cool, ill see if I can cancel it on monday.

I used a 4 inch grinder with a metal cutting wheel and a steady hand.

Install that piece onto the transmission with the T/case in 2HI. Look down the access panel hole and judge where to begin the cut. Keep in mind when cutting the hole, the spot where the shifter bolts to will be in its furthest forward spot when the T/case is in 2 HI, and the shifter doesn't move as much as you would think in a backwards motion. It more or less lifts upwards more than goes back, if that makes any sense. So start the hole small and gradually make it bigger as needed.
When you look in the access hole from the passenger side, you will see a spot that bends inward a little. I had to smack that with a long metal bar to bend it towards the drivers seat to get just a little more "wiggle" room.
If it is possible, try to get your T/case into 4LO when you go to install the shifting rod. That will raise the bolt hole on the shifting rod to its highest point so that you will not have to cut the hole as much down towards the floor to get the bolt in.

One thing that I did that I would pass along is to get a 5 post relay because I didn't pay too much attention and got a 4 post. A 4 post will not work.

Thanks for the info, you think a dremel with a cutting wheel attachment would work?
