It came today. Doesn't fit. It hits a metal line going up into the engine bay. I assume it's a tranny line. So if you're planning on buying this for your OHV you may wanna check for around 1/2" of clearance between the oil filter.

some of the ford expeditions have their oil filter mounted behind the front bumper on the driver's side

Just take a big honkin round file and cut a groove for the line, may comprimise the phenominal cooling effects of the unit.
But you might not notice the diff :D

Got the Cool Collar installed on my full flow oil filter today. Photos tomorrow.

What did you do with your old setup?

i thought you used to have a oil filter relocater setup. I know you had a tranny or am i thinking of someone else? Oh well man looking good so far!

Never had a remote oil filter before the recent bypass setup.

Al, did you have to put any sort of compond between the cool coller and the filter itself? The cool coller is basicly a heat sink that draws the heat away form the surface of the filter. In the electronics industry we often use heat sink technology to keep certain parts cool, but we often use a grease type compond that goes inbetween the heat sink and the component to make the thermal transfer more efficent between the two pieces. You can pick this stuff up at any electronics store, even radio shack has this stuff. It will help increase the thermal transfer even more.
Oh! good write up! ;)

LOL. Some Antec Silver! Only cost Aldive about.. $50?

Ray, is the stuff an adhesive material? If a greece, will the heat involved "melt" it?

Thanks.

Oh, what is it called at Radio Shacj?

Al, The stuff is silicone based and will not melt. It's called heat sink grease and sells for 2 bucks a tube. Radio Shack Catalog #: 276-1372.

Thanks, Ray, I shall give it a try.

Ray, wouldn't that stuff loosen up the connection bertween the filter and collar? I would think it would slide right off after a few potholes?

Here are a few pictures of the Cool Colar installed on the full flow filter.

Further, this little tube goes a long way.

The product is a very thick white substance that looks like it will not mely.

It shouldn't as after a while it will act almost like paste because of the heat. Plus the fact that it is tightened on by a ring clamp, it shouldn't come off.
Al, you don't have to use a whole lot, just enough to give it a mild coat, so the the grease will connect to both surfaces. It's the small air spaces that cut down on efficent heat transfer, and although they look perfectly round, the 2 surfaces are not and there are some spots the the 2 walls do not come into contact with each other. The grease will fill in the spots. Oh and don't worry about it sticking on for good. A little wach and it will break loose.
Hope this helps.

So I was wondering something, if you were to use this on an OHV with the oil filter next to the exhaust, would it have a reverse affect? Take the heat from the exhaust and put it into the oil filter?
