Thats alot of work! Cant wait to see progress on this

Not really. It took prolly about 2 Hours to mock up the drivers side block and about 15 min to do the passenger side.

I've got about 20 min of sanding on the drivers fender. Should be alot less on the passenger side.

I'll likely start bulking up the rear tonight. and copy the blocks for the other side.

the work comes when finishing the fiberglass not shaving the foam

regardless I think its awesome you are tackling this

Big project that I hope turns out well. Everything else on the truck is custom, what's a bit more??:p::D

it never ends my bii is going on year 15 of mods :)

The big reason I am doing this is cost. $300 for front glass $350 for rear glass and at $75 shipping per fender. $1000 + after getting here. Too much for my budget. I can't justify it. Can't even find used ones. And when I do they don't want to ship:rolleyes:

So I'm making them.;)

hell yes
I was in the same boat when I wanted fiberglass to clear tires, John at Autofab would make me a set for around $400, shipping was over $400 so too much......John at Autofab called me a week later, said "my wife is headed to Castle Rock Colorado tomorrow, do you want some fenders?" I was like "heck yes"

Sure enough he strapped two fresh fenders (still drying) to the top of her minivan and she was coming to Colorado to see her sister not 30 miles from my house, so I drove down there and gave her $500

still for $500 you can make 10 sets LOL

Should I keep the body line going???

Getting more done on the back. ran out of expanding foam. Need to get some more and I need to get a couple pieces of my foam from my folks place. I've got some 1" thick stuff from years ago and it's just sitting in the rafters of the garage. More updates tomorrow.

very cool! keep the body line, my autofab fender have it and I love it, looks really mean, I get alot of compliments on the glass...
but then here in CO nobody runs fiberglass so I stick out like a sore thumb

YES DANNY they are still white, they will get prepped and painted when the whole BII does! Im still building it mechanically, paint is last lol besides my truck is crappy Maaco blue, Skyjacker red and Autofab white = GO USA!!
Where am I going to get white if I paint them????? LOL

At lunch I went and picked up more expanding foam. I think today I'm going to trim the passenger rear quarter off and start the blocks to fill it up after I've finished mocking up the drivers rear. I'll likely do some trimming to the front to smooth a few things out and have them flow a bit better. May get ambitious and glue it all together so that I can start carving.

props to you for going through all of the trouble for making the plug. It's probably nice having a donor vehicle sitting there waiting to be scrapped anyway.

Do you have much experience in fiberglass work? It's looking great, very similar to the process I have seen over and over in boat factories. Building the plug is the hardest part. Building one fender is a lot of work, but you could build a mold (a mirror image) of that fender once the first is complete and have that set aside to pop out additional fenders if you ever wanted a fast way build and sell more (or just replace ones you might damage LOL).

Yes this could be used as a plug but I'll be using it as a mold. I'll be finishing the backside of the fiberglass. Once done if i felt like it I could produce a mold from that and then I could pop out more parts. But for now they will be a one off. I'll have a tube structure behind it giving extra support so they shouldn't crack so easy.

Today's update.

Pass rear is started.

Drivers rear is almost finished. Just need to get the wheel well opening sorted out.

Today's update.

I got the passenger rear fender shaped. It needs bit of foam work to seal some holes, and it will nearly be done. I've got a few pieces to add to the wheel opening to smooth it out. I added some to the drivers side and it's not bad.

Got the last can of expanding foam I'll need and I picked up a 250' roll of aluminum foil. I'll be starting to glue the foil on tonight.

Likely to be getting the fiberglass material tomorrow after work.

It's gonna happen!
