CoryL '91 4 Door Getting some Goodies!!! Complete off-road performance modifications.

Well SAW blew it again.

Claimed to have shipped my stuff Monday.

Called today and they said they would ship today as they were finishing building them. I about threw a **** fit wondering why they waited so long to build them (3+ months). They "claim" they will be here Monday.

I got the suspension mocked up. Don't want to weld anything in yet until I get the coilovers and figure out where they need to mount and how.

Measured my WB. It's around 122" now.

Here are some mock up pics.

As you can see it's going to be interesting figuring out the steering and the trac-bar. There isn't much room to work with.

The pinion angle isn't set properly either.

Hmmm...nice radius arms...hmmm..jealous.

I couldn't care less about the paint right now. I've got a lot of more important things to finish first. Besides....functionality over looks.

Looks like I may be going full hydro steering too.

Those arms look great under there :D Any plans for hydraulic rams for leveling the body in off camber stuff?

They found a set of main springs to work in my rig... 650lbs! Holy cow! I'm a bit skeptical, but given the location of the coilovers that may just be what it needs. They ordered a set of secondary springs today and they should be here next week. Can't wait to get on the road again.

No forced articulation in this rig.

If I do build a rig with that it will also have rear steer and be a full out tube framed buggy.

I think I have found the parts I need to go full hydro steering. Just a manner of getting them and getting some hoses made.

650lbs. That's pretty stiff. Looks like you will be playing with spring rates for a while until you find what you like!

Well I got what I need to go full hydro.

Should be here sometime next week.

SAW claims the stuff will be here Monday. I'll have pics of the suspension installed with the coilovers on Tuesday. :D

Avalanche claims my rock ring with hoop support tab for the rear suspension will ship Monday. This is the third time I've been told it will ship, so we'll see what happens.

Then it leaves me with driveshafts, a fuel pump assembly, bolting the BII tank down, hooking the rest of the exhaust up, building a trac-bar, and hooking the steering up.

Should be done by then!

450s were sagged out... We have them mounted on the links and not at the axle, so that must be what is causing it to require more than normal rates. I do agree that we will be playing with the rates and valving until we get what we like though.

I always thought rams would be cool to level the rig in off camber stuff, Sure would be different to see that on an Ex... There's a Toy down here with that and he does very well with it. Pretty crazy stuff.

Your hyrdo steer will be awesome, it will put down some real power to turn those big meats while the front end is locked up. I hate that feeling when a tire is wedged against a rock and the wheel is immovable cause of the weak steering pump.

Cory what's your donor vehicle for the hydro equipment? How about a little more into on this if you have the time? Thanks.

CoryL, how much have you spent on your project? Also how many beers have you consumed just thinking about it!

No donor vehicle.

www.northerntool.com sells hydrostatic steering units and such. I already have the ram. I picked up an additional reservoir and have a cooler.

Gonna get the lines made and then take lots of pics.

More time than money, but plenty of both.

Actually not too many beers. Just a lot of crack.

did SAW mean today or next monday, man i wanna see this thing in action its gonna be unbeatable. your not worried about body damage (are you?) so you could go just about anywhere!!

Not worries about body damage. LOL. THere is no much of a body left to damage.

I got the coilovers today...

was filling one with the required 200 psi and it blew a schrader valve seal.

So SAW is sending me a new valve.

I don't know how they stay in business.

Pics will come soon!

Cory could you describe in detail what your doing with the hydro steering? I'm very interested in how it all comes together.

Stock power steering pump (for now) with the high pressure line running to the input of the Hydrostatic Steering Unit (sometimes called an orbital valve). Then there are two outputs for the ram (left and right) off of the steering unit. Then there is a return on the steering unit. From here I will go to a cooler, then to an external reservoir and then back to the low pressure return on the power steering pump.

Once I get all the parts and hoses made and stuff I will post pics and how everything works, what you need, and how to figure out what you need.

Well SAW didn't get me that Schrader valce today. They also did't include any misalignment bushings.

I ordered the misalignment bushings from Camburg yesterday and they should arrive soon.

Once they do the coilovers will be mounted.

I have the lower mounts done and the uppers have to wait for those bushings.

Soooooooo........

No new pics yet. Give me a few days and they will be up.

damn, cory ive been following your project since you started and your gonna have to come get me in houston and take me wheelin with that beast of a sploder
