deamon3's Jurassic Park explorer build thread

The company that made my decals made them and installed them for $195.00 that was the hood and both sides.

He said it would only be a copy right issue if he was mass producing them. Doing one set that was for a pleasure vehicle is not an issue.

i have a set of stock wheels I cant give away if your planning on coming to central Illinois they are all yours.

Very good looking.
Like that it is rattle can and still looks really good.
Keep it up!

WOW that looks great with a garage paint job. props to you

You could always buy a few feet of bulk vinyl in the right colors and do the cutting by hand with an X-acto. Might even be able to find it cheaper online than at a sign shop, but scrap or end-roll stuff at a shop can be cheeeeap.

Unfortunately it's been raining outside so I couldn't get as much done as I'd like , but last night I did a lot of taping and painting of the driver side stripes. An this morning I did even more painting of the roof as well.

Are you covering all the yellow when you spray the other colors? Some of the mist from a spray can will still get on whatever is around. You might already have green and red overspray on the yellow.

Did you tape off the lenses for the license plate lights, or they will just shine through the yellow paint now?

Also you might want to pop off the rear bumper plastic (it just pops off upward) and spray the top of the bumper and/or just remove it when spraying clear, that way the paint isn't sticking them together and won't crack or flake.

Are you going to keep the tupperware on the sides for now and get the running boards later, or just keep it as is? The black aluminum running boards are just universal cut-to-fit stuff with the bolt-on mudflap style ends. You might find some cheap, maybe even used off something at a salvage yard or someone selling theirs.

The red paint is really thick and isn't making any over spray luckly. I taped the license plate lights. I honestly don't feel like taking the plastic on the bumper off ,lol.

As for the side skirts , this car has no rockers , they are completely gone. The side skirts cover up the rust , as for running boards well there's nothing to bolt them to.

Ok moar progress!

I have removed the masking from the drivers side and it looks awesome! It's really starting to look like the real thing.

I have also painted the roof. Turned out very nice and glossy.

How many coats of each color did you do?

the colors look great. im impressed. now get some good clear coat. like dupli-color clear coat. then color sand and polish it.

Starting to really dig the progress pics-I like it!!

Update!

I have finished the color about 95% , the 5% being the number for the back which I have decided to number 04 (in memory of the deceased number 4 in the movie). I removed all the tape for the time being and took it out for a spin today , the first real drive in over a month. I must say this car really sticks out , lol. Also , it feels and sounds like a rickity old truck in comparison to my new honda. lol

Next on the list is to apply the decal (when it arrives in the mail). And also start work on the front brush guard.
