Disconnecting Rear Sway Bar

Like some people said, there is no real reason to have it off on a DD, even if it is your offroad rig, when on the road it serves its purpose, and should be left on. I don't understand why anyone would want to compromise their safety, risk rolling their vehicle, and put surrounding drivers at risk by making the car more unstable. If having it off offroad allows more articulation, doesn't that prove that the vehicle would be more unstable in a high-speed turn on the road? (I think the original question has been answered already, i'm just venting my thoughts.)

You're right. But a lot of people don't notice much of a difference on the road with it off... even though that may be due to AAL, or something else.. I guess it depends on your vehicle, your driving skills.. and suspension upgrades you may or may not have.

In normal street driving, that may be so. But just look at those 'rollover avoidance' tests. I can't imagine not having a swaybar would yeild the same results as having a swaybar. I don't want to start an argument with you storlied, but my feeling is you shouldn't take a risk like that. What are people trying to prove by not having it on?

I'd say mostly common sense...

Haha..

I'm not trying to argue at all with ya.. I agree.. you're right.

I say, if you want it off for better off-road articulation.. disconnect it.. when getting back on the road.. put it on.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm just gonna leave it on, and take it off only when offroad. Just a question about that though. For those of you guys that take it off when you're on the trail, do you just disconnect the endlinks and leave all three pieces hanging there, or do you take all of it off? I just wouldn't want anything to get messed up that shouldn't be because of a dangling suspension part. Lemme know. Thanks again.

I just disconnect the end links. You should be fine.

i was gonna use 5/8" hitch pins in place of the bolt on the link above the axle... kinda a disconnect idea... is it a good idea or do i need somethin more stable?
