Finally got around to doing this on my '00 5.0 - all went smoothly. Took me less than 5 minutes, including digging through my toolbox for a pair of cutters. Can't wait to drive at night now!
I went out and snapped a few pictures of the two boxes. Sorry for the quality
Box 1 (By the airbox)
I saw R146Rick's post but was somewhat confused. My fogs will only work when the low beams are on, not the running lights or high beams, does this mean that when the smaller square relay spot is empty, this mod will not work for me as well? Can anyone help me out?
Edit: I would like to have the fogs come on with all three. Running/low/high.
Your Photo looks like the Auxiliary Relay Box #1.
The empty small relay slot would have been the Isolation Relay.
Looks like you early build, this mod will not work.
That's what I thought. I also thought about re-wiring them completely separate from everything but the number of wires leading to the fogs is concerning me and looks like it would be a tough project. Would you have any other suggestions?
Anyone figured out a way to do this if theres no Fog Light Isolation Relay?? I've got a 96 Explorer Limited and theres no Isolation Relay, just a "Fog Light Relay"

Finally did this mod today, after installing my new foglights, and HID kit in them. Another bonus with this mod is not worrying about flashing your brights and turning the HIDs off and back on.
Worked like a charm! Dremelled the side pin off, and put it back in! Literally took under 3 minutes.
How do I do this mod on an 2003 4x4, I cant seem to find that info anywhere after many searches. My relays are with the fuses near the brake fluid.
thx
Just did this mod today on my 00 5.0 limited. i followed most of the information on page 2 by clipping the outside prounge on relay number 2 in the auxilary fuse box under the air box. everything works like it should (fogs and high beams)
