Ford Extended Service Plans (ESP)

When I bought a couple weeks ago the finance guy said there was an additional $1,500 rebate available on service plans. He tried to sell me on everything under the sun of course (road hazard, paint protection, etc) to the tune of 5 grand plus, but the Premiumcare plan for 6yrs / 75,000 miles, $100 deductible ended up being around $800 after the rebate. Seemed like a good deal when sitting at his desk filling out all the paperwork but I haven't had a chance to research it yet. I can cancel it anytime and get most of my money back if it's not a good deal.

So to all the ESP experts on here, is that a fair deal?
Does that include 1st day rental? Off hand I think it is a good deal provide you only average around 12k miles a year.

I don't have any paperwork yet. The pamphlet they gave me says 10 days at $30 per day. I assume that's over the life of the plan and not each visit. What's the nuance with "1st day rental"?

There is non such thing as an ESP rebate. There is cost, MSRP and anywhere in between the dealer wants to sell it to you at.

$30 per day for 10 days is per visit, not lifetime of contract. If you don't have "1st day rental, then you do not get a vehicle until.the next day after you drop it off pending it isnt fixed by then.

I always get 1st day rental (about $75 more) because I want to drop off and leave with a rental immediately. Although the contract includes it, dealers choose the "1st day rental delete" option to remove it and have it cost less.

There is also an "enhanced rental which doubles to $60 per day for 10 days. I always choose that too son instead of driving off in a focus, I get Explorers, Expeditions, Mustangs and fusions for rentals.

Thanks for the feedback. But if there is no such thing as an ESP rebate, why was an extra $1,500 rebate, on top of the standard $4,000 and two $500 rebates, listed on my contract? They explained to me that extra rebate was only available with an ESP.

Since my Ford dealer offers a free shuttle anywhere in my county I can easily live without the 1st day rental.

Could this possibly be a Florida state only thing given the issue with buying an out of state warranty?

I reviewed my plan contract. Retail price was $2,225 but a $1,500 rebate was applied bringing it down to $725 before tax of $155 (applied to the retail price) bringing net total to $880.
PremiumCare, 6 years, 75,000 miles. The box for "First Day Rental Delete" is not checked so I guess I have first day rental?

This seems like its within about $100 of what others would have paid with Joel. I did a quick search on Ziegler which was higher then Joel when I was searching and it came in at $1,100. I think they were just playing some number games to entice.

I bought mine from Joel about 3 months ago for $1,600 but went 100K, 7 years, $100 deductible, 1st day rental, Enhanced rental and lighting.

Didn't realize you were in Florida because the mobile version doesnt list location. Again there is no such thing as an ESP rebate. I think the dealer is playing games with you (moving numbers around)

1) It is illegal in Florida to sell a Extended warranty below MSRP. I believe the dealer is being shady with his numbers. All dealers regardless of make must sell at MSRP. Ford will even reject the ESP if it is sold under MSRP in Florida.

It must be a dealer rebate then and not a Ford rebate. I'm trying to figure out how I might be getting screwed here. Bottom line is my total financed amount was more than I had calculated going in by roughly the same amount as the ESP cost minus the $1,500 rebate. The Ford ESP contract says nothing about the rebate, it lists only the full price of $2,225. So Ford would have no reason to reject it.

I never once said you were getting screwed. All I said was the dealer is being shady with their numbers. If it is a dealer rebate, all they did was discount the ESP for you which is illegal and then falsified the document to Ford so they wouldnt deny it. The dealer is selling a Ford product, there is no Ford rebate therefore it is a discount. You can not discount an ESP in Florida pure and simple. They did and broke the law.

Worked out in your favor and If run with it... just a shady dealer.

No point in continuing this.

Hi all, new here

I tried searching but the post that came up all seemed dated. I'll continue to tweak my search but in the meantime, I figured I'd ask again. I have a 2017 XLT and truly loving it, I got it in Aug 2017. We are putting alot of miles on it as we typically do - I would say 22k-25k per year. I would like to keep her for at least 150k miles or more. If I get an extended warranty before I hit 20k miles (I'm at 15.5k now) I can get coverage up until 125k. Looking at around $3.5k for the top-line warranty package.

Any thoughts/opinions appreciated.....thanks!

in most mobile browsers I can get the info on the left (city/vehicle/etc...) to show up by turning the phone to landscape mode. Kind of a pita, but it is what it is.

You can get coverage up to 8yr/150k as long as you are under 3yr/36k.

My 6/125 was $1,7xx.

Good to know we are at just over a year and 17K. Think we can budget this in soon.

I bought the ESP from Joel & have almost paid it off. I'm considering trading in for the 2019 Platinum. If I do that, what do I do about the ESP?

Read the contract...I believe you can cancel and get a pro-rated refund.
