Are you still going to get rid of your 4X4 after the weather we had last night?

You mean a little freezing rain? Man, some of you guys put it in 4LO if someone spits on the ground. I got thru the whole winter last year without using 4WD.

what are the benefits of getting rid of it? Less weight? If that is your only reason... I'd say the time/effort to take it out isn't worth it. But each to their own...

I have a feeling he wants to go lower and/or bags/coilovers.

I plan on going lower in the future, but I'm undecided on which method I will take. Taking out the CVs, front driveshaft, and front axle will decrease weight, but that's not a factor. Although it should increase my milage since the engine doesn't have to turn the CVs.

Wow, those came out very nice.

How many layers did you put down & how much if any did you glass the back of it?

I did put glass behind the holes where the switches were, so I could fill them in from the front. For the radio part, I cut out a piece of MDF that would fit in the DIN 1/2 opening, and then I cut out a single DIN opening in the MDF. Then I glassed the MDF in.

For the paint, I did about 7 coats of the basecoat, sanding in between the first 4 coats and wet sanding on the last 3. I sprayed about 5 coats of clear on it. When the clear was done, I used rubbing compound to level the clear out and make it smooth. Then I coated it with Klasse SG and S100.

That takes lots of patients. Not a job for me.

My billet HVAC nobs came today from Billetpro, they look sweet! They really complete the look of the radio bezel. I should have pics of those tomorrow or Monday.

Do you have a website address for where you got them from?

Here are some pics of the billet HVAC knobs:

I like the way they turned out!

Here are some pics of my gauge bezel project.

1st sanding stage. Notice that I filled in the three holes around the headlight switch.

More pics coming soon.

Wow man! I wish I had the motivation and the know how to do stuff like that. I'm sure you inspire many people on here to do creative stuff. Great write ups on all your projects, too. I just recently followed your write up on the clear corners. Keep up the good stuff!

Is your truck out of commision during these projects?

Thanks for sharing, you do good work and have interesting ideas.

Chris, thanks for the compliments. I've always been somewhat creative with my ideas and I like to work with my hands and create things.

Al, no my truck is not out of commission when I do most of my projects. These pieces I'm working on are from the junkyard, so I still have my factory pieces in my truck.

Hydroxy, I taped off the inside part because I didn't want to mess it up with the course 80 grit I had to use on the outside part. The inside part is already somewhat smooth.
