Has anyone ever swapped out the v6 4.0 engine for the 5.4L Triton engine? Just wondering.

I don't think it fits...but I might be wrong.

There has got to be away though. Im working on a project car and want to get some more power. I wish I would have gotten the v8 to start with.

Just swap in a 302.

a 302 stroked and bored to 347 cubic inches is 5.6l :D

And a lot less time and money. The modular overhead cam engine will be very tough to fit.

A 5.4l is 330 CI... A 331 stroker would be the closest. ;)

I don't think any of the modular V8s would fit anyhow.

Either way, a 302 is an awesome engine, there are tons of parts for them, and they came stock in Explorers, which means you can get all the stuff to make it just like a factory truck and not a hack-job, even if you aren't the most experienced mechanic.
