Has anyone ever swapped out the v6 4.0 engine for the 5.4L Triton engine? Just wondering.

There has got to be away though. Im working on a project car and want to get some more power. I wish I would have gotten the v8 to start with.

A 5.4l is 330 CI... A 331 stroker would be the closest.

I don't think any of the modular V8s would fit anyhow.
Either way, a 302 is an awesome engine, there are tons of parts for them, and they came stock in Explorers, which means you can get all the stuff to make it just like a factory truck and not a hack-job, even if you aren't the most experienced mechanic.

The modular engine family is much wider than the smallblock Ford family - Like everyone suggested - It would be a lot easier and cost effective to go with a 302 based motor. If you really think you need more, some people have successfully squeezed a 351W into these engine bays - search for wickedwindsor's swap as well as a few others.
