Just got a call from Colorado State...

I have been accepted into the Graduate Department of Mechanical Engineering for Fall '07! I will be going back to school to get an MSME with a focus on alternative energy.

I will be working as a Graduate Research Assitant at the Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory (which will pay for my tuition and living expenses) :bounce:

Its too soon to know when I'm moving, but I know I'll be in Ft. Collins no later than Mid-August.

Anybody know anything about Ft Collins? I need to start looking for a place to live.

This is such an awesome opportunity. I have been praying over this for months now and I feel like I have a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders!

I have wanted to live in Colorado ever since I have been old enough to know where it is :D

I have family in ft. collins. Its a cool place, you'll like it a lot.

Congrats Hokie

I am in Fort Collins

There are a few others here, and close.

What kind of rent range are you looking at?

How close to campus do you want to be?

Places nearer to campus are more beat down from college renters, and alot of students pay a higher rent to live in these to be closer to campus. There are nice places near campus, but I think the rent is high.

FYI: parking on campus sucks. Parking permits are not cheap, but I have no idea what they run.

Hmmm... I see that you get tuition and living expenses

Well, uh, need one car garage? Two car?

House? Townhouse? Apt? Condo?

I was originally thinking about buying a townhouse or condo. That would be the best scenario but would really put me in a bind financially ~ or commit me to taking out a moderate student loan.

If i'm going to rent, i would LOVE to be within walking/biking distance of campus. My problem is I'd have to find a random roommate online or find a 1 bed room apt ($$$)

Here is one of the nicer places close to campus. I am not sure if it is party central or whatnot...

The best time to look for a place is when school is getting close to out or done. There are tons of options open during the summer.

If you run across a place that looks okay, PM me with the info. I might know if is a dive or crappy neighborhood...

i wanna move to CO! maybe when i'm done with school here in august in chicago... have FUN!!!! make sure to snowboard a ton ;-)

Gordon street is not far from campus. I am not sure on how the neighborhood is up there. I don't think I have been around there that much.

Crossing Mulberry might be a PITA at times. It is one of the main street arteries from the interstate.

Not a bad location. Close to Old Town, where there is alot of nightlife, i.e. bars, dance clubs, restaurants...

Here is the closest liquor store, if you are thirsty...
