How to: How To: Install Signal Mirrors On 3rd Gen Ex

Prefix for threads which are instructional.
I used this guide to do the removal of my old busted mirror. I wish I had cool signal mirrors but alas, I only have a third party OEM replacement. Still, happy to have a mirror again.

Happy to help. The signal mirrors are only $40 at Hillbank Motorsports but you have to have OEM mirrors or they won't work.

I just did mine...but did break the glass on one, i inserted the screw driver into the insanely small slit at the edge of the class instead of the one underneath it lol.

you broke an oem one or the turn signal one?

i was in a rush to do it, and when i put it on the housing i pressed to hard and crack.

Which side did you break? I have an extra passenger side one. My driver side got smashed in front of my apartment one night. If you need the passenger side, it's yours for the asking. Let me know.

I appreciate the offer rondo but it happened a while back and I got it taken care of, thanks though.

Just curious, was yours smashed by someone driving by too close to your mirror or did someone do it intentionally?

It's hard to say. Maybe someone was too close and their mirror smashed into mine or some punk was hanging out the window swinging a baseball bat. :dunno:

I was the only night that I didn't fold in my mirror. Like I always say: stupidity should be painful!!

either way that sucks.

a couple weeks ago someone keyed my car, or maybe it was a shopping cart but I dont think someone would push a shopping cart intentionally along my car for about the length of it.

what can ya do though? its part of life

Yeah, in my younger days I would have hit the roof. Nowadays I just concentrate on fixing the issue.

Rondo, looking at your how to on the signal mirror it looks like there is space where the puddle light would be to put in the strobe. It just goes out toward the front of the vehicle instead of shining down. Can the original glass be reused or did you break it getting out?

I was a "Gator Navy" sailor for a too many years. Last on Spiegel Grove, LSD 32. Left active duty as Lt Cdr and then to seminary, came back on active duty, retired in 2010 as cdr

Well then I guess the salute was appropriate!! :salute:

I have some time on the Nassau, LHA-4 and the Trenton, LPD-14. I also attended Team Embarkation Officer School at Coronado. As you know, being a Marine, I am very familiar with the Navy.

The lens is part of the socket, as you can see in the pics below. Look at the bottom right of the pic and you will see the lens is part of the socket:
