i did click that link and that post is actually one i had bookmarked...

where would a regular person be able to look up the length and size of a stock bolt?

the other thread actually looks familiar... i think i have seen that before, it jsut may be a matter of reading it and forgetting what was read....

thank you colin :)

just to be sure before i sepnd $, i want a m12x1.75x100mm to lift my truck 2" or so? thus meaning the stock one is shorter than 100mm?

jsut went and ordered my bolts from fastenal, not sure what they cost yet though, as i didnt prepay for them

figured out what spark plugs i got, motorcraft SP-486 AGSF42FM, its what allied said is now listed as the AWSF42PP (can nayone confirm this is the right replacement part for my truck?)

uh oh.... so today i was driving around, came to a stop sign, went to start off, and the tranny thunked and bucked and chattered!!!!!! after it started it was fine, i immediately turned off the o/d via button on the shifter stalk, and there shortly after was another stop sign, this time, it made jsut a slight buck. and was fine, the rest of the day there were no issues at all, ive been running it with o/d off all the time except o nthe freeway....

could this be related to my shift solenoid problem of a p0761?

just ordered my shift solenoid from www.transmissionpartsusa.com to cure my P0761 per Glacier's recommendation

solenoid was 23.02 shipped via usps priority box

will the shift solenoid cause my issue above? DTC/CEL P0761

stock says: awsf-42pp

the ones i got say: agsf-42fm

got my wires :)

magnecorjpg1.jpg

pic isnt too bad either, i took it with my camera phone then emailed it to my hotmail account and saved as a bmp. converted to a jpg from a bmp using a program and shrunk it from 640x480 to 600x450 at 80% quality and above is the picture you see after i uploaded it to my ef album

I gotta get some of those, im tired of having to deal with cheap ass autozone wires lol.

they were a hair under $90 shipped but they are sweet, haven't installed them yet, but they are heavy, and beefy. 8.5mm jacket with a 2.5mm core. you can tell in their weight that they are beef

from the research i have done, these are the best wires you can buy. you pay a premium price but they are the best, as long as you dont destroy them, they should last forever

Very good. When you get your trans worked at, contact James about a tune for the truck, you can gain a good bit with the engine and trans.

i plan to contact henson after i get it all sorted, wont be for awhile though, im going to have chris do my valve body and the upgrades and thats going to set me back a good chunk of change...

any confirmation on the spark plugs?

awsf42pp = agsf42fm ?

I cannot remember what my plugs were for my SOHC, from two years ago. I liked the good price of near $3.35 for each. I need to go through things to verify that all is well, now that I have over 10,000 miles on it since bought. If you trust your Ford parts man get those. Mine were the latest recommended then, and had only one special electrode, some new Ford plug at the time. I don't mind paying a little more on some parts, plugs are not complicated so shouldn't be $5 each.

mine were $5 someithing each, i actually did not get them through the ford dealership but through allied auto parts, when i gave them the part # of awsf42pp, they didnt show a listing, but i saw their computer screen and it did show that part number cross referencing with agsf42fm

i did price ford plugs @ ford (dont know part # though, he looked it up by the year, and model) and it was $8.45 each....

good news, i just settled it, i called the local dealership, and told the parts guy my make and model, and that i had a 4.0 and told him the part number i had was awsf42pp... he then said that part shows that it is superceeded by agsf42fm

sweet! :)

the only part i am waiting on now are my shift solenoid (already ordered and shipped) and my 100mm long torsion bar bolts (fastenal goofed my order, the right ones will be here next thursday and cost like $5)

also going to need some bolts for my center of the spring packs for the aal, but that isnt a big deal and i can get those anywhere like the local hardware store.....

Very good, that sounds normal for lots of Ford parts, superseded.

yup, just like the little solenoid bracket for the tranny, its been updated....

my solenoid came in yesterday, i would have updated my thread then, but i was very busy

EDIT:

TO DO LIST:

seafoam through vac booster

b12 chemtool through gas tank

qt of atf in oil prior to change

oil + filter

(need to buy) fuel filter

shift solenoid + updated bracket w/ pan drop + new filter/gasket

spark plugs + wires

EGR pressure valve (DPFE sensor) w/ new tubing

camber/caster eccentrics

add-a-leaf(need to get center bolts)

M12x1.75 100mm long bolts for torsion twist

check air filter

top off leaky tcase

i am using mercon III/dexron from walmart

If the Mercon is for the trans(there is no Mercon III- that's Dexron III), then go buy a Lubegard additive to supplement the fluid. Mercon V is much better, I know it's more, I bought the Mercon and Lubegard for my first fluid run. I have Amsoil coming to change it with final touches in the trans, then a PCM tune. Regards,

I wouldn't run the Mercon/Dexron III for any great length of time. Get everything about the engine/trans worked out(VB kit etc.), then change fluid and get a flasher for the PCM.

i am also running the mercon/dexron in my tcase, that is leaking. i wont be able to run the merc v or have my vb done for awhile... i need to have my tcase rebuilt as well sometime i think..... the mercon should be better than what my tranny has now, as my tranny is a 96, and merc V didnt appear commonly until 97 according to what i have read... maybe it isnt mercon3, i will go look at the bottle and take a picture and post it up in a few minutes

ok no pics, i cant get a good pic with my phone....

but... it says dexronIII/Mercon

says do not use in mercon V vehicles or fords made after 2006

It sounds like you are doing what I did, saving some money to start with. Change to Mercon V in about 10,000 miles, or when you do the valve body.

Mercon V is now called for in all Fords that came with Mercon. This is another case where the book(which ever manual you are reading) is now wrong. Ford obsoleted the Mercon, all manufacturing licenses for it expired in July. Regards,

i read some things about mercon v saying it is not compatible with prior versions of mercon....

what is the cheapest snthetic mercon v can be obtained for? i saw a 2.5 gallon bottle of amsoil atf (sais it can be mercon v) and it was $90
