Also, Just wanted to say I got my parts (exhuast tips) back today, and Jon you know how I decided that the color would work good cause it would be an inbetween on my black acesseries and my spruce green paint...In a very light condition it looks so similar to my paint and yet in a bit of shade it turns to a almost black. I have not and do not have time to get them on till hopefully wed, but I did fit them up over the pipe and even though it is just a tip, it added to that rumble that I love so much and mind you this is still with all my cats. I would like to get a welder and learn how to weld a bit better cause they would be on right now (and cats would not), but I have to go to a friends shop instead.

From what you are describing that sounds pretty cool--I would like to see a picture. That color has just enough "silver" to it to reflect color, but look black in the dark---
I am going to shoot my wheels with it--

Im still looking for another diff cover. If i ever find one ill send it your way.

I am thinking about the rims and that will be expensive to ship. Steel all the way and five of them. lol

I have extra diff covers--what color do you want?

ooops--you probably don't have an 8.8 rear--

No i need a dana44 diff cover. I have found them in chrome but i think i can find them with nothing on them.

How does the coating deal with heat. I want to do some work on my dads bike exhaust and this would be good. It would be nice in black chrome or in chrome if you can do that.

But i need to know about the temp that the coating can handle

Ahem.

hey did you ever get the bigger oven? i have a friend who runs a custom motorcycle business, and he built his own frame powdercoating oven out of steel plate and the elements from five old electric ovens. cranks up the electric bill i'm sure, but he cooks whole frames in there.......just a thought!

Jon, what might it take to powder coat a pair of Jaguar V12 valve covers in gloss black, and a water crossover pipe? My friend and I have been pulling apart his spare car, for the top engine parts. He bought a convertible with an engine fire. I told him to make an early pile of parts that he'd like to have powder coated, he wants the intakes to be similar to aluminum, he's still thinking on it all. He may be able to send them knowing about a little wait, shipping and coating. He liked the chrome look of yours, but he wanted his CBX cover done faster in town. It turned out okay, but a little darker shading, similar to a light silver/grak. Regards,

There are coatings available that handle up to 1100 degrees. Although, the good ones, like jet hot-are liquid. They use a 2 step heat curing process-running the engine for a bit is the last critical step.

I am still working on MM's intake plaque-for some reason this one part is giving me fits-I have shot and stripped it about 7 times now--grrr I think it is possesed.

I really need to see what I am getting in to on those--show me a picture please?

yesterday I took it a little easy, for a change of pace I did some parts for a friends ford dump truck. It is being rebuilt-so, might as well do a bit of rust prevention.
This guy has a whole pile of stuff for me to do. I think his front end will all be yellow-- I know, but it is his truck.

I just helped with the last of the outer engine parts from the Jaguar yesterday. We both took pictures, I'll send a couple here when I get the camera out of the truck. Same for the intakes of mine also.

I dug out my extra intakes, plus took the pictures of my friend's Jaguar intakes etc. These intakes he'd like to be close to the original silver. I think that he remembers the mirror chrome in the picture before, of a valve cover. I don't know if he wants that, that would have been good for his CBX valve cover.

Holy Jesus thats a big intake!

Actually that's just the right intake, the Jaguar is a V12. Both are filthy under the hood, a fire on the keeper convertible make it interesting.

Holly mecahanical fuel injection.

You sent a lot of stuff Jon.

I plan on trying some of this tomm ha ha sillyness

well, you might not "use " that much, I was trying to make it easier to weigh it.

also--it will give you some trial and error room-
