Jon, I have a friend with a CBX that he would like a chrome like finish on the valve covers. Is it hard to cover the inner side while spraying the coating on the part?

Someone has been building shackles again they have a familiar look to them:shifty_ey:scratch:

Don,

I could mask the gasket surface, with High temp masking tape, and coat the whole cover, inside and out, or mask the whole underside.

Do you remove the tape before baking, or can it survive the heat? My friend just got his bike, he's looking for headers, seat, air cleaner, and lot's of other items. He mentioned the valve covers, the typical graying, and I suggested a chrome like powder coat. We have a small PC business in town, who did my brake brackets, but I don't know how much stuff he does.

About 8 years ago, I bought a gooseneck faucet at Walmart for 30.00
As you can imagine--it sprung a leak, (months ago) and the finish is toast.

I was going to replace it--but thought --hmmmmm.

2 new o-rings and it looks up to date--:D ( well, after beadblasting and powdercoat)

I also did all of our cabinet knobs-
I blasted, hung, shot and baked 37 parts today--:p:

here is the before and after of faucet--

High temp masking tape--:D

you can remove it before baking-but risk disturbing the powder layer--

That faucet does fit in better with the black grout now

Here is the transparent black, on a used, chrome differential cover--

Sorry for the blur-I'll get new ones and edit

it's good enough to see the color--I'm ready to shoot my valve covers!

edit--grrr-
these were used as I mentioned--it seems I didn't get them cleaned well enough-there are a few freckles:(
It will look good enough under the truck--

I hope Eric doesn't stand in one place too long tomorrow. He my end up powder coated :D

One shot showing the freckles-

another to show the actual finish quality--

I baked it-washed it, washed with windex, then polished it with acetone,
I should have baked it again, and repeated the acetone wipe--

Like I said, it was used, and I believe oil had impregnated into the metal,

These are going on my Mounty!
Since I have Edelbrock heads-it just seems logical--
I'll remove my cobra valve covers--I'm going to coat them pink and send them to a special someone:D

I'm going to coat everything inder my hood I can based on this color. It will all be transparent black, or black chrome--

That all looks great, good work. There's a lot of time in all of that I'm sure.

Well, not much in the way of 2nd gens at the junk yard today, but I picked up a set of rear hatch glass hinges. They nailed me for 5 bucks for those things! Damn! I shoulda left 'em in my bucket and walked out. :shifty_ey

Also thought about something else. Want to try the stock crossbars for the roof rack? I've got a set of those. I can send you those along with the hinges and 3rd brake lamp trim.

I wanted to get a rear hatch handle, but looked like I'd have to take part half the hatch - with added difficulty 'cause someone already took the struts.

Do the roof rack parts have any plastic in them?

Send the stuff--my address is in the top secret forum--

Hmmm, good question. Tough to say. Maybe the knobs. I'll look closer. Mostly aluminum. As soon as I find a long box .... wait a minute, mine have one that my HD antenna came in. I'll try to get them out this week.
