I have never heard of 31x9.5 or 32x10.5, I have seen 33x10.5 tho.

I'm soon installing 31X10.50's on 15X8's. I will attempt the TT but I have the 'L' designated torsion bars so I really don't know what to expect. I hope I can get an inch and a half with the TT, though. I bought the Warrior Shackles for the rear so I'll throw them on as well. If I can't get the lift I need, I'll install Add-A-Leafs also. My X has the Automatic Ride Control and I'd be satisfied with the 2" lift that the ARC would provide if I didn't need new shocks. The ARC shocks are over $200 each so I'm not replacing them with original equipment replacements. The softer springs/torsion bars are what comes standard with ARC, naturally.

Tire Size Question

Great chart, I had a heck of a time trying to find this for the late mod explorer. I am lifting my exp 4" susp + 3" body and I really want to put 35"x12.5" on there... does anyone know if this is too big of a tire (should I settle with 33s) or if it would work on my 98... with minor fender trimming?

Hey Joe, i like your chart, but what about if I want to stick with my stock rims on my 95 explorer XLT. I plan on putting a 2" lift (TT and not exactly sure what method I am going to use for the rear yet.) I want to keep my stock rims, which I believe are 15 x 7. What would you recommend as the largest tire diameter and width that I could use.
Greg

Stock rims you can go up to a 32x11.5x15 or a 33x10.5x15.. but you'll probably have some trimming to do.. every truck is different.

Thanks for the info on the chart.
That helps out a lot. i will be putting
33s on my ex along w/ a 4" susp. lift.
i think i might have to trim, but they
might just fit anyway
Ryan

do 33x12.5x15 fit on the 8" rim? anybody?
i know someone who put them on a jeep 8" rim
Ryan

A 8" rims is acceptable for a 33x12.5x15

Thanks Ben

Great Chart

Just so you all know I am new to this forum, and I found exactly what I was lookin for in less than 5 min. I am usually on a Diesel Superduty forum, but the wife needs some new shoes on the Civilized vehicle and I was wondering how big I could go. Thanks for the chart, and now I will have to stick around since there is obviously good info here!!!!

Lifts and max tire and wheel sizes for explorers
This is a quick reference guide I have put together based on information gathered from the Explorer Forum. Remember this is just a guide. You may have to do some fender trimming to fit these tires on your explorer. Others things can change what size tire you can run on your explorer. Like fiberglass fenders, rim width and rim backspacing.. I figured this would help some of you that were pondering what size lift to run what size tires. If anyone would like to add something go ahead and post it and I will add it to my list. If any of the moderators could make this a sticky that would be great. Hope this helps.

91-94 explorers.

2 Wheel Drive

Are the sizes listed in the first post also for 2 wheel drives,I have a 95 XLT 2 Wheel Drive with 235-75-15 and need new tires I currently have BF Goodrich long terrain TA, But want to go with All terrain at the very least, if I crank down on my torsion bars abnd leave everything else alone I should be able to go with the 31's easily???
I just have some confusion becasue it is a 2 wheel drive and 99 % of things listed here are for 4 Wheel Drives.

thanks and this is A very helpful forum.
thanks all.

David, I am not sure? You can also go to the search function and type in your type of vehicle year and all, because i know that i have seen a lot of threads on 2 wheel drive models

Ok, Super Swamper now makes a 32/10.5/15 I was wondering if anyone is running that size yet or if you think those would rub on a 96 with a 2.5-3 inch suspension lift? Ive read about how the 33/10.5's fit almost as easily as 32/11.5's. Also Super Swamper makes a 31/11.5/15. Would that rub? From what I have put together it seems like I might be able to run the 32s by 10.5's with minimal rubbing or just a little bit of trimming. Does that sound right? Just in case no one believes me about the 32/10.5/15's they are the Super Swamper Radial TSL.

someone here was running 32X10.5's with just a TT and shackles and had no rubbing, but everyones different
*edit* it was springtensi0n

Someone mentioned using F150 front Coil Springs... what years F150 for what years X? I'm mostly interested in 94, but I imagine others are interested too

I don't know about the actual springs, but I believe you can use '96 F150 2x4 Coil adapters/spacers.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
