Light Switch Issue

New to this site so thanks for any help you all can give.

Here's the problem.

On my way to work yesterday and the light switch would not move, completely stuck! This model does not have the light thingy in the mirror to turn on at dark like my wifes Explorer.

So I get to work and get the stich to turn, but only the head lights come on. No tail lights and the dash lights do not light up????

All the fuses are good, do you think the switch went bad?

Is this a common problem?

I have heard of the light switch failing just as you described

Look in the salvage yards?? ( hey-I'm cheap like that)

I checked with AutoZone and the switch is offered for $32.00. So there is no need to go to Ford for it
