Los Coyotes - Labor Day Weekend!

Nah man, can't cancel class. It'll cost me 50bucks to reschedule. This totally sucks. Hey xplodor are you gonna spend the night out there or what? If you guys are crashin out there, I could come out sunday evening. Let me know.

Khris, maybe I'll call you when I get off work. You're meeting at 8 in ramona? I don't think I could make that. Are you doin haul-ass stuff or normal, slower, my truck's kind-of slower style.

Just wanted to confirm all the info for all whos going on Sun. let me know if its correct.

Meet 9am at the second water tank...channel 21 for those who have CB's and last one in brings the beer for everyone...oops, I added that one....lol.

Also found a good website for Los Coyotes:
http://www.tankota.com/
(sorry its a toyota truck related site but it has good info there)

Josh,

We'll be doing high speed stuff but can definately wait up. Have you been out there before? Stock trucks will do fine. I guarentee you that you'll have fun. Usually when we go out with people that can't keep up we just take off and wait at all major turns so they don't get lost. So no biggie if you can't keep up. The other F150 just has our bolt on RCD kit so it's not exactly a trophey truck. Heck last time there was a Lincoln Continental out there cruisin with us and he never got lost.

Call me if you're gonna cruise out so we can keep an eye out. We're going to meet in Ramona probably around 8ish so we'll be out there around 9:30

If I don't answer leave a voice mail and I'll get back to you ASAP I don't always get reception up here.

I just looked at your list of mods. You'll do fine at ocotillo wells. I ran around there with the exact same basic setup as you for a year and had a blast. Now I REALLY have fun.

I'll let you guys know if I'm going for sure on the Los Coyotes run tomorrow when I get home.

LCIR

The beer idea sounds great, Yes on 21 and yes on the second (2nd) water tank 9am. the road forks around the tank but you could see both sides look for an area around the tank so we can stage off the road. I cant remember is there is cell coverage in that area and CB is pratically line of sight.

I'll be in my Blue 99 Ranger. Lets try to get a count so we dont leave anyone behind.

How about agreeing on a lunch time say noon or 1 up at the Hot Springs Lookout Tower. Incase anyone is late or lost they can hook up with us.

I'll be there at 9AM.:D
Everyone good on directions? Going south on 79, after passing the gas station in Warner Springs, turn left at San Ignacio. Go thru a residential area. The road bears right and has a sign saying 'end of county maintained road'.Continue for about six miles. You'll come to the gate, with a little office. If no-one is in the office, continue on, and come back to pay later. Several more miles and you come to the meeting point at the main camping area. Everybody have a CB?

Well, I don't think I'll be making it. I broke a rear shock last night and my rear shock upper mount cross tube broke in half. I got some serious flex now though!!! I'll be getting the stuff needed to refab my upper mounts this week and hopefully I can just get my shock rewelded. The upper eyelet ripped off the shock itself.

I'm still in....not sure how long the drive is for me but i'll do my best to be there at 9am.
I'll be in a 97 greyish (looks more like metallic purple) ranger.
By my count, I think we're down to 4 rigs...chan 21 still for those with CB's right?

David

Jason, Ron, you and me! Ch 21 it is.

It's supposed to be in the 90's up there tomorrow!

I know LCIR isn't in the desert but just for a comparrison it was 97 degrees @ 9:30 last night at ocotillo wells.

Quality breakage, Khris! :p

Dave, Ron, Jason, bring a camera if ya got one. We'll find some good photo-ops.

Yeah, well I tried to do it good. Kinda bummed though it could of at least waited and broke tomorrow so I could've at least got 2 runs in this weekend!!! I ripped the uniball eyelet right off the shock the tube that I had the upper mounts to broke (1-1/2" x .120 DOM). It broke right next to the mounting tabs. Here's a pic of it together, I don't have one of it broke. If I can find the camera I'll grab one, I did a good job on it!!!

I'm back from the run, and I gotta say, it was about the best time I've had out there! Here's one pic that sums up the whole day for me. It's DB_1 getting back onto four wheels. This was just after he reached out the window and pushed himself off the bank.

Is that the spot where Kevin layed his Ex into the tree???

Possibly. I'd have to go review that thread.
Edit: I went back to that thread and checked-nope, it's a different trail, but the same senario!

Los Coyotes is so fun, I almost wish we were going there again instead of Big Bear!

Here's another pic.

Nice photos! I've gotta get my butt out to Los Coyotes!

Glad to see that you guy's had a good time. Yes, Los Coyote is a lot of fun and maybe a little better then Big Bear. That section that DB_1 tip on is part of the Dangerous Road area. That spot is a little tricky. Either you get to high on the right side to miss the tree and you might tip over or you do your best in getting around it with a little body damage. The tree took my rear left tail lite out once.

Glad to see that someone else other then myself tried EL Hill. That spot is known for mysterious cam video problems. Everytime we have try to video this area the replaying of the video is all fuzzy. Did anyone try Bronco Hill? This one is even harder then El Hill. Did any T-Storm's develop. Their were a lot of them forming over the Mts. yesterday.

I forgot one thing, that spot where Kevin K. tip his truck over onto the tree stump was down Lady Bug Lane. I'll never forget that event, when Darien and I had to get him back straight again. That trail is really not all that bad except that one spot. But if you continue on that trail, you will find Bronco Hill, and that's another story.

Thanks Rick, it was my first time there and it wont be my last! We'll have to meet up one of these days on a run, i'd like to check out your rig.

Thats funny you should say that Paul, one of the guys in our group had a video camera and it want dead just before someone was going to run El Hill. We didnt get to Bronco hill...we had so many rigs and everyone had cameras so we wanted to take pics....glad we did. No T-storms happened but it looked like it was at one point, it was perfect weather as far as i was concerned, partly cloudy and not too hot.

By the way, the grey toyota in the pic going up El Hill has no suspension or engine or axle gear mods...just lockers front and rear (EZ-lockers if i remember correctly)
and thats it.

Hey Bill, I still have ringing in my ears from that lady on the CB all day...lol

I was just up the road from you guys in Anza. Right by the entrance to Coyote Canyon. I wish I would have had the time to swing by and meet you guys on the trail. Looks like you had a great time!
