injectors

lol

What injectors did you get? part numbers?

Injectors

They look like Bosch injectors.
I was just wondering if there was an injector value file for them in SCT's Advantage3, I like comparing things to se how easy or hard it would be to tune.
When you get them see if there is a number on the housings.

How is the engine building and balancing coming along?

Ill check it out and let you know, they shipped today.

I haven't heard from the guy with the rods and honestly dont really want to till after Christmas. .haha i dont really have alot of cash now after getting all the trans stuff so waiting on my work bonus.i also dont wanna rush or bother him too much, when he has time he'll do it and think he'll do a better job when its convenient for him

Im freakn pissed...called the guy with my rods and he goes ""i thought you was picking this stuff up and having some other work done first"" .....NOOO i need the rods milled first!! He hasnt even started and then tells me ""o well im real busy with other builds so its gonna be awile""....hello ashole ive been waiting for over a month and this may not be a ""big"" build to him but this is a BIG build to me and we arnt talkn pennies here,we're talkn thousands of dollars in labor..apparently thats chump change to him...

So i call my local guy with the heads and block to see if he just wants to mill the rods and turn the crank to try and speed things up..the owner is outa the shop and the machinist goes ""yea you need to call back Thursday and talk to the owner, think we stopped working on it for some reason ""...WTF IS GOING ON!!! From the sounds of it they ran into a issue, i know the heads were done and told me the block was done bit i hadn't seen the block or heads after the O-ring groves had been cut..only thing i can think is the groove went into a water channel or the block split from the over bore!!!both would be catastrophic at this point...im really really frustrated and having a unknown of cost hanging out there has me freaking out...also just pisses me off that these guys are treating my build like its not a real build, for pucks sake i bet this V6 will produce more power than many of there big bad V8 builds!!:thumbdwn::mad::mad:

engine

Maybe he just stopped working on it because they are waiting for the rods?
Maybe he finished the block and it is ok.
Try to stay calm and think positive. After all it wasn't the shop owner you spoke to, and this is the week of Christmas, a lot of people take off for the holidays.

As far as the rods, it is probably something they don't want to do in the first place. But if they said they would, then your best bet is to leave them alone until it is done. Calling them and losing your patience with them might make them back out.

Is there any one else that can do the work for you? Could you go with different rods?

These challenges are frustrating. Hang in there, you will get it done. It just takes way longer than planned, as always.

its reasons like this i work on my own stuff whenever possible. i hate leaving my stuff in other peoples hands and having a blind eyes to it.

Yea very well could be they stopped working on the block till they got the rods but the way he said it made it sound like there is a issue. ..I've used him many times and trust him 100%..

Now the guy with the rods...he just didnt wanna do the work in first place which i dont blame him but same time dont say you will and put it off forever.guess it was a communication issue or him just wishing id take it somewhere else..once i talk to my local guy Thursday im gonna see if he will mil the rods,i mean seriously i could take them over to my machine shop and mill them myself if i trusted me..

And i could use other rods "IF" they were same length and same pin size.ive already started looking and may call manley back to see if they can make the same rods i have just with a narrow width on big end..

Got my driveshaft safty hoop installed. .it was to short to go from frame to frame, which turned out to be easier..had to redrill some holes in the side pieces to get the top hoop to go up a little higher and replaced the "hex head bolts"" on the inside of the hoop with round button head bolts..my driveshaft is huge so wanted a little more clearance in case it wobbles or hops around..i also attached my exhaust hangers to this brace so they are bolted in,not welded to body like before. .all and all turned out pretty good

Button heads in case the shaft hits..

Also go my new tailshaft and tailshaft housing in..the housing has to work with a ""reverse brake"" model and gear driven speedo..like i said previously, i could have went with the S-10 tailshaft if i want the shifter farther forward like stock but i think having it farther back will be better for me,especially with the short shifter..flywheel and shifter should be here soon..

Driveshaft Loop

Nice install on the driveshaft loop!
I like the cap screws, great idea. They should come with them if you ask me, stupid large hex bolts don't leave much for clearance.

They honestly should..those hex heads would destroy the shaft..this driveshaft is a beast though, think 4" and LONG as crap..new trans should be able to use the same driveshaft but im concerned that it being hollow aluminum, its not that strong. .a custom shaft would be outrageous for it

Got my flywheel and shifter...both are TOP notch looking pieces, excited to say the least :-) got my injectors also.

Parts

Nice parts!
That flywheel looks awesome, is that aluminum with a steel plate attached?
Looks light and strong.
Shifter looks amazing too, I think you should test fit the handle and post a picture of that.

JD, do you do any datalogging with that Ranger? If so what do you use?

Yes the flywheel is aluminum with a replaceable steel plate.its 15 lbs i believe, ill have to weigh the other.not to concerned about the ""loss"" at launch that a lightweight flywheel supposedly causes..

All thses parts including the shifter is for the T5 so cant mock it up yet till motor is done, also need to tear that trans apart to replace the rear shaft..

I do not do any datalogging,i wish i could.i havent found a cheap way of doing it with OBD1 and my SCT chip..do you know of any????..all my tuning is done on a dyno, multiple pulls and different scenarios.did think 7 WOT pulls and was on dyno for around 3 hours last time

Datalogging

I think the Moates 1/4 horse works with OBD1.
I have never used it though so maybe check with others to see if they liked it.
Tuning on the dyno in real time works too.

Thats a whole stand alone unit though like MS correct? ? Im waaaayyyy too deep in expenses to change from my sct chip tunes..id like something that can hook up to the ecu,sct chip and datalog without changing systems...i know ford use to make something that can plug/piggyback obd1 ecms and datalog it but they are very rare now and cant find one cheap..

I would like to get datalogs after tunes have been done.i plan to get that vampire system someday so would like him to write me a good race tune with NOS and think only way to fine tune that would be with datalogs..for now he has written me 2 new tunes,my chip holds 4..first is based off what i did before but just little richer and with with 50 lb injectors. .2nd is a rich, safe safe timing with 50s,basically a failsafe tune..i have to come in once motor and trans is broke in for what he calls a ""tune adjust""..

Moates 1/4 horse

Its not a stand alone unit, it is a chip that allows tuning and datalogging.
Plugs into a J something connector on the back of the PCM.
SCT did have a datalogging device, I will see what I can find on that.
Edit: I was thinking of the Raptor but it was for OBD2.
