Today was a blast... went muddin with a friend of mine, but unfortunately we didn't have another vehicle to go with us. So we packed up the chains and hand winches, and went off to the trails/pit. Last night we had a lot of rain, so the mud pits were really big and wet, so I figured I'd stay outta those, but the trails were really fun. This was the first time I had been wheeling in the Explorer- first time actually doing the driving while wheeling, also- and it was great. Now I see why yall love this so much!
Only had one problem through the whole day, I got high-centered going over some deep ruts. I was trying to straddle the ruts, but my front tires slipped and the truck got high-centered. Took us 30 minutes or so to get it winched out, but we eventually got it out. Then, off to do some more wheelin'!
I was impressed with how the Explorer faired over the day, it went through several areas that I was a bit worried about without a problem. I'm sure I've got some battle scars from branches along the trails, but it doesn't bother me... I've already decided that I'm not gonna be **** about keeping this one perfect, because I know it won't stay that way! The paint is already a bit scratched up, so I figure it'll be less of a headache for me if I just don't worry about it.
Below are the links to all the pics I took today. In the pic showing the flex, the LR tire is off the ground a good 8"! Stuffed that RR tire all the way into the fenderwell.
I had a great time today, you can bet I'll be doing this frequently!
