My under hood "bug"

There is a huge electronics store in Westland, MI about 15-20 min from my house and near my engine builder. It make's radio shack look like a the cart stores you see in the mall. I need to go see my builder anyway about the 347 block work. I can stop by the electronic store and pick one up. Can you give me some info on what to ask the clerk so I don't get a blank stare. :) I'm not versed in electronic components.

Also I wanted to ask you about your MAS and fuel injectors.

I have no local anything ( unless you want pizza hut)

Could you look next time you are in there?
It needs to be vertical, leads on bottom, with shaft going out front ( to reach outside the case. I would be grateful.

Here's the update.

I replaced the trimmer pot, which I recieved thanks to the great customer service at www.digikey.com
A big whopping $2.56 part was the fix!!!

I had a bit of difficulty, the circuit board isn't the best quality, so de-soldering a component was difficult.

I re-installed the Maf tuner --started from a dumb PCM-( battery disconnected), started engine and allowed it to come up to temp.

Wow, what a difference!
My truck runs perfectly, so far.
It held the maf flow adjustment By the way, the stock PCM is for a 5 liter engine--this is where the maf tuner functions, I actually need to adjust to 5 grams per minute-not the 5.6 to match engine size.

The idle still hangs a bit, not nearly as high.
Fuel trims are well within 10 percent. I think I can get it in a bit tighter though, as it is correcting both directions of 0 short trims are -5 to +5

long term says -5 so it is a tiny bit rich---I think I will try a lower fuel pressure now---it is at 45 psi stattic. Think I'll try 40.
What I need is a co-pilot to adjust the tuner while reading the trims.
The road is just too bumpy to do this at 70 mph and accelerating.
Redneck Dyno!!

What I cannot believe, is this POS company PMAS or PRO-M or whatever they call themselves this week, has blown me off for a part which I paid $2.50 RETAIL

If you want a positive comment about this company--don't ask about them in a thread I will see.
As soon as the holidays pass, and I have the $$$, I am going with a stock Maf--and a proper tune from a very fast member here---and I will post pictures of a burning pile of pro-m equipment.
This is a promise.

"raises hand"

come on denver is not that far, its a straight shot

Jaime
When i explain what I now understand to be true-you will see why I should have been there by now-and then some.

This "tuner" was brand new--in 2004, march 14th to be exact, I was on a "tuning" run, when this thing flaked out and sent a "too low" signal while I was screaming, pulling full throttle at about 65mph, just getting ready to hit third gear. Something started knocking real loud.
I got home--smoke from right bank---
I crawled into a ball and dissapeared from this site for almost a year.
#4 piston had burned--all this money--I swear it had 2000 miles on it at the most.

I wonder how many people get burned by bad, brand new parts.

This 200 dollar piece of crap--and the lousy support--I am actually kind of angry still. Maybe it explains my day---I should be thrilled.

Now do you want to talk about my Stolen Powerdyne Kit?
This is why I hang here so much
I need some KARMA

Edit
I am in the garage now, just noticed something
Key on, engine off, full depression of loud pedal only results in 69 percent throttle---What gives here?
I have one of those TPS enhancer thingies on the shelf, supposed to fool the computer into faster, higher TPS voltage. Hmmmm?

I forgot about the charger getting ripped off, the nerve of some people!
Did they snatch it out of the garage or what?

Yes.
Along with some tools other things from house.
They broke in 2 doors.
I say they, because 1 guy couldn't have carried it all.

Ah, life is good eh? At least I have a future--those thieves do not.

No sir, I do now though.

I have had an elaborate alarm in the house and garage for years.

The garage is bugged for intrusion. It also has CO2 sensors, heat sensors, smoke sensons and a water overflow sensor.

Redneck Dyno!!

Just get your wife to drive it so you can tune it. I'd volunteer to drive it, but Topeka is a little to far away for that.

Al, you have all the gadgets--i'm jealous
I am playing with an x-10 cam system--motion sensors switch on outlet modules-and a vcr contoller-with wireless cameras and a wired " low light" cam
If anything in garage moves-my table lamp in bedroom illuminates, and a chime rings. It is crude-but effective.
My truck is safe--unless you find the fuel pump cutoff switch heh heh.

I sleep in my truck with a shotgun, so bring it! hahahaha
I too have taken some measures to protect my goods, I have been robbed before and it SUCKS ASS, cops did basically nothing for me.
I even FOUND 100 of my CD's at a local used CD place (I had my initials inside the covers, many rarre import cd', even three depeche mode discs from japan my dad got for me) and the guy would not tell me who he bought them from, cops would not help out, the fingerprint crew showed up 7 days after, it was bogus. I was 19 going to college and had an apt in the hood, they stole EVERYTHING I owned, even clothes. Thank god for renters insurance. You better BELIEVE my home is secure now I learned from the best, my dad

I wouldpay to see your lamp and chime setup thats just badass

OK
Long story

About 2 months prior, power was out city wide, it was morning and I was not going without coffee.
I was on my driveway--making coffee with my camp setup, my 2 dogs at my side.
Officer stops, gets out, and my dogs go greet him. All they wanted was a ride in his car. They live for it and are traitors.
I asked if he wanted a cup-o-joe. I thought this was just a friendly visit.
He said"no, I am here to ticket your dogs, no leash. 75 bux each" just like that. If he would have driven on by--they would have stayed. He drew them off the driveway---get it?
I proceded to call him an overweight sexual encounter ( not in those words)
Which, he is. He couldn't catch a rolling donut, and has a bad heart condition.
Grease just ooozes from him, like a french fry.

Well,
Guess who showed to take my break in report?
Yup, we have 4 cops, so it was a 1 in 4 shot, he took no prints, I had to drag him by the hand to show where they had been. He just stood in my kitchen, asking what I wanted him to do.
I went to talk with him 2 days after the break in, he said he had some suspects, had called them on phone, but they didn't call him back.
What do you expect for 9.00 per hour?
This is the last that was spoken of it, For obvious reason's I am not pushing it. I have to live here
Insurance was a joke
Car parts in the garage, not bolted to car, are not covered by homeowners policy----check it yourself, you need additional coverage for these.

If it had been in house--it would have been merchandise in a box, and covered-hint
Cash limit was 250--safe had way over this in it ( need additional here also)

I recieved a total ( because of grey area on blower)--of 1500 , to cover the loss after my 1000 deductible. This included the door damage, cash, and dvd player.

yup I wont rely on insurance, I am more of a steel bars, loud sirens and guns type of guy

Buckshot is your friend!!

A smal town advantage, since I live on the main street thru town,
I like to clean my shotgun on the front porch--in plain view now.
Dirty rumours are nice in this respect.

I am glad it was with us on the camping trip--who knows where it would have ended up.

I am lucky, I have a friend in the alarm business. We did some trading on my alarm system; I would never have paid the 12k dollars it cost.
